Left Oban after a really great (but wet) week (Oct 2008) and headed inland to Balloch, Loch Lomond and quickly left as there was so little to do and poor accommodation chosen (enough said).
Moved on with a last minute choice to try Callander and what a wonderful place & area - Stunning all around and a lovely friendly town too.
Stayed in Annfield Guest House on North Church Street (www.annfieldguesthouse.co.uk) which we say was an absolute gem of a place / find. Both hosts were just so nice and friendly & helpful and the house itself is beautiful both outside and in. Peaceful and quiet but within 100yds of the town centre area. Definitely worth staying in (again).
Callander and area is smashing. Fantastic scenery. Good selection of shops and a few good restaurants and bars if you ask plus good information at the tourist info.
All in all - Great place. Must see more of Scotland now.
