I stayed at Hendre Wen a few years ago (but this date was not offered on When did you travel?, below, so I had to pick the earliest), and found it absolutely gorgeous and full of character. The house is really old (don't know how old exactly), and the bedroom was comfortable with low, heavily beamed ceilings and a delightfully undulating old floor. My hostess was charming - real Welsh hospitality, and very informative about the local area. I guess for tall people they'd have to duck under the beams, but for anyone who appreciates historic architecture this shouldn't be a problem. The food was great too - much of it locally produced. Very friendly animals on the farm. I'd happily stay there again and have often recommended it to friends.
