Friends recommended it and were right! We liked everything, the food, the wines, the staff, the size of our room (although the safe didn't work on arrival, reception staff organised the repairs within 24 hours), the days out skiing.
We loved it so much, we have booked for New Year 2009.
Alpe d'Huez is a brilliant resort with many activities, even for non skiers, so enjoy!

Skiing holiday for the second week in March 08, booked through Erna Low and our second ski trip. Four adults and two children 10 and 8. The apartment was superb. Spacious, clean, well equiped with plenty of hot water etc etc. Duvets on the beds, towels and linen provided although we had to make our own beds up. The front desk ladies were helpful and polished and obviously used to dealing with hordes of people checking in and out. The two bedroomed apartment consisted of one double bedroom, one bedroom with two singles and two sofa beds in the living room/kitchen/dining area, bathroom, shower room and separate W.C, excellent heating and balcony. The lower floor apartment we rented didn't have the best of views, overlooking the rear of the closest restaurants and bars and did suffer from noise between 10.00 and 02.00! The upper floors did not have this problem so ask for these. There is a ski storage area in the basement with individual apartment lockers and two ski hire shops and several restuarants immediately adjacent. Please be aware that on change over days ie Saturdays the restaurants get booked up very quickly and if the supermarkets x 2 are closed then you may go hungry. Pre booking is almost always required if you are in a party of 6 or more. The ice rink is within 50m and the swimming pool another 50m, great to swim in the cold with snow all around whilst remaining toasty under water. The French law in regard to men wearing Speedos is absolute but they can be rented freshly laundered from the bar in the swimming pool! The skiing really is great and a friend who had never been on skis before rated the ESF ski school based at Les Bergers. We are all beginners and although the slopes are busy they are well groomed and offer lots of areas to go to/advance to.

Just returned form a group holiday. Only gripe about these apartments is we arrived at 1pm and couldn't get into our apartment until 6pm! We had a duplex apartment which would sleep up to 7 people. We were a family of 5 so we had plenty of room. Ground floor is shower room and toilet, Lounge with 2 sofas and a pull out bed, kitchen area and dining table for 6 people, balcony. Upstairs is double bedroom, cabin with bunk beds, bathroom and toilet. Very clean and comfortable. We were in 408 which overlooked the ski slopes.At around 4pm the sun was on the balcony and very pleasant. Apartments are centrally based and very good take aways and restaurants just below. Takes about 5 - 10 mins walk with all ski gear to get to bucket lift to take you to the main slopes though! This was a bit of a bind by the end of the week, especially with the smaller children in our party. All in all I would go here again.

We stayed at this hotel in February and were met with problems on arrival. The hotel's administration system is dire to say the least. We stayed with another couple and rooms were mixed up. During our stay several thefts occurred, as staff at front of house were handing out room keys to anybody that walked in off the street. Police were called as i-pods and laptops were stolen from guests' rooms. To top it all off a month after we came back from this holiday the hotel took almost £100 out of our account for a drinks bill with expensive wine etc that we had not drank. We had even paid our bill in cash before departing! Be very careful to check your bill on departure. We have had to contact our bank who are treating this as fraud as they have taken money out of our account for drinks that we did not even have as well as taking money a MONTH later and without our permission. Altogether very incompetent staff which spoilt our holiday.
