I stayed at this hotel with my husband and friends in late March 2012 and was very happy with the service received. The location is very good and the ski facilities are great (for boots etc). We were on a half board basis and the dinner each day was very good (Breakfast was excellent). The hotel is due for a major refurbishment during the Summer and the plans look great. Even currently, the rooms are a good size and are well presented. The staff were very friendly, in particular, the Italian Bar Manager who was very helpful. He went above and beyond the call of duty in making me a sandwich after a tiring day of skiing. This represented excellent customer service.
I wish the inclusive dinner included tea/coffee. All the facilities are there to allow guests to do so (as one can at Breakfast). I don't think it would cost that much extra and I feel that it would complete the service. In addition, the wifi is effectively non-existent. Future re-furb or not, I cannot understand how this could not have been upgraded for the Winter Season 2011/2012. However, this is just a point to note as one should not come to Val Thorens to surf the internet.
In summary, the above two minor points should not take away from what was a lovely hotel with great service (some of the earlier reviews I think now having stayed at the hotel are unnecessarily critical). I had a great trip, was very happy with my choice of hotel and would hope to return some day.
