A short 10 kilometres of dirt road will bring you to one of the most spectacular views you will ever see. Barn Hill is part of a working cattle property and provides a little bit of paradise for those who enjoy nature. It is not a five star caravan park so if that is what you expect forget it.
On arrival the friendly staff allowed us to choose our site rather than sending us to a site we may or may not have liked. We chose and then let them know where we were. Barn Hill offers a caravan area with limited power under shady trees and on grass. The power is limited as the station is not connected to the electricity grid and must produce it's own. On the wilderness side are sites in an area where generators can be used within set hours. We chose the wilderness site as the views were spectacular and we preferred it to sitting under trees in the caravan park.
The beach seems to go for miles. You can swim, kayak, fish, walk along the beach and check out the rock pools or just relax and enjoy the view.
The facilites are rather rustic, but they are cleaned daily and are definitely adequate. You will have a short walk to a rubbish point to dispose of your rubbish, but this is done to discourage feral animals from attacking bins within the camp and lets face it a walk never hurt anyone. There are great photo opportunities and I personally enjoyed watching and cataloguing the bird life.
There is limited telephone and internet coverage, however don't forget you are 150 kilometres away from any major centre.
We would definitely recommend this special spot to everyone. At night this turns into a million star accommodation.
