Welcoming staff full of information about the motel and the area, especially things to do and places to visit that were free! Nice pool and garden with barbecues so we could eat outside. Only down side was that the motel was a way out of Rotorua which meant having to drive.

When we first arrived in the room I was horrified ... there was a bad odour (and it wasn't Rotorua). Cobwebs on the ceiling corners, sticky kitchen floor, poor shower heads etc. Then complained about not having refurbished rooms as per the website. We were given a refurbished room on the second and third night of our stay, for $10 more which we weren't told about until we left. The refurbished room TV didn't work correctly, the stove took forever to heat up but was pleasant and didn't stink. Steve seemed very pleasant but Gillian ... umm. A shame as they could have gotten many recommendations.

stayed here in the '70's as nearly newlyweds. back with grown kids and a grandchild. Not the "fanciest" place we stayed in NZ but probably the most functional and comfortable. Nice room layout, very family friendly. but the best part was the great advice from Steve at the front desk. need to know show times? - he knew them. restaurant advice? - he had it. when we asked where we could buy a folding stroller (pushchair) for the baby he appeared at our room a few minutes later with one we could use during our stay in Rotorua. Nice to see that physical updating hasn't changed the original charm of the old "Pui Nui".

I travelled with my two daughters, aged 14 and 2 1/2. I booked a one bedroom unit and found it to be roomy and most importantly clean. There were also good storage cupboards in the room. The beds were comfortable and both the bedroom and the lounge/bedroom had their own televisions. I found the rooms very nice.
We loved the plunge pool, I was able to fill it enough for my youngest to think it was the best bath ever! it kept her amused for ages. Then after the kids had gone to bed I was able to fill it up, sit out under the stars with a glass of wine and lots of bubbles, turn the tv around and relax Rotorua style!
My teenager enjoyed the large swimming pool.
The surroundings were peaceful and quiet, it is a little way out of town and you would need to have your own transport to get around.
Overall we had a lovely stay and would definately return.
