The place is isolated and very windy, inaccessible by road only . It flows through canyons, along cliffs, with strong side winds. It starts from the town of Buenavista del Norte , 9 kilometers . Hiking mountain trails in Tenerife
Erjos is a tiny, rural, quiet hamlet. There is one bar (goat or pork with local wine on the menu - all very tasty) and one road through town. At ~1000m, it is prone to cool cloudy weather in Spring, when we were there. That said, it is very authentic, extremely quiet, and charming, with people working the terraced fields and brilliant starry nights. The house is well equipped, slightly minimalist, and again very traditional. Ishmail, the owner, is extremely friendly and helpful: he phoned around cafes and other places in Santa Cruz when we lost a camera one evening; he also changed our start date at a days notice without any complaint. A great host!
In summary, Erjos is a place for quite and authenticity and an excellent base for hiking from.

It's a place when you stop checking your emails even with perfectly working wi-fi
We had time for only a very short break and really wanted to relax from our busy city life. We were amazed to find this beautiful, quiet, and very friendly place. The house has everything you need - a clean bathroom, a nicely equipped kitchen, two brick BBQs outside with tables and benches. But the most important is the astonishing view to the ocean, of course. Ismael offered us 3 mountain bikes in a perfect condition. There are a lot of different trails around, they all start from Erjos. If you rent a car you can easily explore the whole island. We tried to avoid the south which is full of tourists and big hotels. For us Erjos was just an ideal spot to relax and enjoy hiking, biking and sleeping till late (all you hear are birds in the morning and frogs at night :)).
