This hotel is one of the best in Ireland and truly deserves its five star rating. The setting has breathtaking views of the lake and hills and is true to the photos on the website.
The Irish breakfast was excellent and we dined in the Brasserie each night we were there. The prices were relatively good for the quality of food. The fish and chips were delicious as was the shrimp rice dish, and the lamb cutlets were excellent, but make sure that they are cooked medium rare, or they will not be worth it.
The lobby and other areas were perfectly done, and although the hotel was fairly busy with business meetings, there were few times during the day that it seemed that way. The business center offered four computers and one was always available.
The exterior of the front of the building is its only drawback. Its dated but given that the owners have recently invested $100 million into the lobbies and spa, I would think they will tackle that issue before too long. The bedrooms have not been renovated since 2004 and seemed a little out of step with the style of the rest of the interior, but we were told that they will be redone in 2011. The rooms are quite nice nonetheless, and the bathrooms very roomy with top quality fixtures. The property reflected pride of ownership. Its a must-stay location!More
