First of all, if you wondering whether or not to do Cesky Krumlov—DO! And Mysi Dira is a solid choice for accommodations there. Located just before the bridge to the center of town on your left, it is very convenient to get to by car, without the hassle of trying to drive and park in the peninsula (impossible for anyone but locals). Many rooms have a balcony and pleasant view of the river, and our deluxe room was large in size. The bed had one of the softest mattresses we had in Europe and a large, firm American-style pillow! The décor is not my favorite—very 1980s and handmade, with “grandkid art” on the wall—but it all looks new, all matches, and gives the place a personal feel—it was what I expected from the pictures online, and given that Cesky is still pretty off-the-beaten-path. Front-desk staff was super nice with fluent English—offered us free wifi password, umbrellas, adapters, phone chargers, and almost anything else we could ask for--and their recommendations for restaurants were spot on (U Dwau Maryi and Barbakan). The room was easy to book via email, their website shows you what you want to know, and they were waiting for us though reception typically closes before 8p.
My only significant complaint was that being on the bottom floor with the breakfast room ended up being very loud. We frequently heard footsteps from above, and the guests eating breakfast (and groups of Asians hanging out there at all hours) apparently did not understand the concept of “inside voices.” I would gladly have traded the view for a more quiet room. The Mysi Dira also had little flaws like small, worn-out mismatched towels, no mirror outside the bathroom, and cold coffee or eggs in the morning, but they were very overlookable given the vibe and expectations in a simple little place like Cesky Krumlov.
Unless you are hard of hearing, ask for a quiet room on an upper floor.
