Before we arrived in Washington I emailed the hotel to find out what facilities were in the room, ie fridge, hair dryer, for a Brit tea and coffee making facilities. My email was responded to straight away and was told that they would be put in our room free of charge, brilliant as in some hotels it costs a lot. Of dollars a day for this.
We didn't hire a car this was due to parking being $35 a day, as it would add quite a bit to our holiday, that's my only negative point.
As we had been to Washington before we new the drill when we arrived at the airport. We went to get the bus to the subway then onto DuPont Circle. Be advised if you get the bus make sure you get a return ticket. You don't need to pay for transfers from airport to Hotel, it's so easy to get around.
The hotel was easy to find, we checked in, the staff were brilliant, we went to our room to get settled and although small, it was perfect, very clean which you would expect. There was a knock at the door and a member of staff delivered the tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge, how was that for service!!! Cleaned to a high standard every day, what more can I say.
We freshened up and decided to have a beer in the bar downstairs, it was very hot. We got chatting to the Manager who was really nice and friendly unfortunately we didn't see him again as he was going on holiday for a friends wedding. But the staff were all brilliant as we went in every day to have a beer and something to eat, can highly recommend going.
As I said this hotel is very central, wether you just want to pop over to the CVS to get some provisions or pop to the local bars and restaurants for dinner, the subway has also easy access.
We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel, but what we did was to put the coffee on, and pop over the road to Panera Bread for a couple if bagels, when we got back to our room coffee was made and we had warm bagels.
I can't say enough about the front of house staff and those who work behind the scenes, all were brilliant.
Glad we didn't get a car as it is very busy around DuPont Circle and if you are not used to driving in the States you possibly could get road rage, with all the honking of car horns etc!!! Bad enough crossing the road,
We went in July, it was very hot one evening at 6.10 it was 102 degrees.
Georgetown is an easy half hour walk from the hotel with an English village feel. We visited the Natural History Museum, the War Memorials, which are fantastic even though we have seen them before, we also went to the National Archives, where we were treated fantastically as we are retired military personnel, we were taken to the front of the queue and let in, were advised what to see first etc, brilliant.
Again these comments are my opinion and I have said it as I see it. Thank you for reading this.
Not sure how you would choose a good room ours was a superior room, although small due to the angle...
