Booked through Bath travel only to take the stress out of transfers etc etc it wasn't the cheapest and having been once now i would to it by myself next time.
Next time! yep definatly go back the hotel has a nice charm about it, modern but authentic. The moment you step inside you feel relaxed and at one with the surrounding decour.
The Staff were pleasant enough although at times a little hard work. The rooms were all clean and tidy some better than others, If possible ask for a pool facing room.
The Pool is a great attraction very tranquil and i think good weather nearly all year round.
The hotel has 2 restaurants one of which does live belly dancing shows most evenings.
Its about a 15 minute taxi ride to the airport and a 20min walk to the center of towns attractions. Theres a sight seeing bus that passes every 20 mins or so on the main street outside. well worth jumping on this take the full tour and decide when and where you should jump off next time.
Taxi's are ok to use, don't be alarmed if driver stops on the way to collect someone else this is normal.
Well worth getting lost in the souks, check out some of the old riads and palaces, camel rides and also the yves saint laurent gardens.

29 Dec 2009 | Trip type: Family

I stayed here for a week in Dec 09 with family. I had booked a 5 star hotel at first in Marrakech but after reading the reviews for that hotel decided to book this one from the reviews on here and I'm so glad I did!

Reception staff were great and very helpful in checking us in. We then went to our rooms, which were fantastically decorated, clean and beds were really comfy. Each room had a balcony which over looked a fab pool and garden.

Never had any problems here, all staff are very helpful and I would definatley stay here again if I was to visit Marrakech again.

The centre is about 30 mins walk from the hotel, but it is a bice walk and lots to see on the way so well worth it, or if you want to get a taxi it will cost you 50 dirhams (£4) which again is cheap. Gueliz the new town is literally 10-15 mins walk if you turn left when coming on the main road. If you turn right 10 mins down the road is McDonalds and a little further on is a supermarket (huge) along with other boutique shops.

Go into Jama El Fanaa (the main square), youll have lots of people approaching you to sell stuff or ask for money if you take a picture with them or their pets! But its all part of the experience.

Most importantly when in the souks make sure you got a third or at least half of the asking price. I wanted a scarf which the seller was asking for 600 dirhams and eventually i got it for 80 dirhams!!!

REMEMBER: If the price you're not offering is a good deal for the seller they will NOT sell it to you! Simple as... remember this and you will not get ripped off! Also, feel free to walk away from a seller if they say "no"... they will only call you back and agree to your price!

Enjoy!

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and found it to be excellent! Regarding getting to the hotel itself all the taxi drivers know it when you ask. We found that a grand taxi from the airport at night cost around 200 dirhams (around £14) but if you got a petit taxi it's about half this. When going home we got a petit taxi for 60 dirhams from the main road (about £4-£5)....

The hotel rooms & facilities are very good for a 4* in a country like Morocco. Our room was very spacious and had a lovely large double bed, flatscreen tv on the wall, a small but ample wardrobe and plenty of drawer/shelf storage. The bathroom is perfectly fine, very good power shower/bath and cleanliness of the bathroom & toilet was excellent. The room was cleaned every day by the maids. As mentioned in previous reviews you do have to pay 25 dirhams per day (about £2) for the safe, but it's money well spent to ensure your passports/valuables are safe during the day. The actual hotel is lovely, just like the pictures there is a spacious seating/sunbathing area outside together with the large pool - although the pool is a little chilly in December :-) Breakfast is good and has a wide variety of cooked, continental and cereals plus as much juice/coffee as you can drink. The waiters/chef are also very friendly to the extent that they insisted on bringing our toast/coffees out to us each morning! We ate in the hotel restaurant on our 1st night and found the food/wine to be tasty and fair value and also were treated to some live guitar/bongos whilst eating! While it's not as good as restaurants in the Nouvelle Ville area of the Medina it's a great option if you fancy a break from the busy streets or arrive at the hotel in the evening.

Getting from the hotel into the centre is simple, we found it was about 15-20mins walk to Nouvelle Ville (new town) where there are plenty of restaurants/cafes/shops. It takes about another 20mins or so to get into the Djeema Al-Fna. If you prefer you can take a taxi for about 50 dirhams to the Djeema or the bus on the main road....

Overall this hotel was excellent, very relaxing location and friendly staff and a perfectly walkable distance from the main central area. We both found the quiet and distance from the main areas to be a welcome relief!

One other thing to mention is that if you fancy a day-trip to the Atlas mountains the hotel offers a trip for about 740 dirhams each (around £50)....this may sounds expensive but actually this includes a full day out in the Atlas mountains, where you are picked up in the morning and driven out to the mountains to take in the beautiful scenery and through the Berber villages. We went along with a Spanish couple from another hotel on the public excursion but you can pay extra for a private trip - while not cheap I would thoroughly recommend this trip if you are in Marrakech longer than a few days and want a complete change from the madness of the Djeema Al-Fna! One tip - take your walking shoes!

The Tichka Salam hotel is well worth at least 4/5, and depending on your own circumstances, might for you be worth 5/5.
Overall, I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to my friends
There is very little to fault here. Overall service is good. Cleanliness is good. Security appears good.
We only had a couple of little niggles.
The most annoying thing was having to pay to activate the room safe. This was quite expensive (175 dirhams !!! About 14 GBP.), and quite honestly, I’m not sure if I would bother next time, particularly as it was so fiddly to activate that I had to get the receptionist to sort it out with some brute force (bizarre!). This was an unnecessary hassle that could easily be avoided by just allowing free access to the safe.
Minus point - On one day, we were left with no towels, and it took 2 trips to reception before our clean towels materialised.
Minus point - there was a desperate shortage of clothes hanging space, and storage in the bedroom, although the overall standard of the room and bed was good.
Minus point - there was no kettle or drink making facilities in the room, which was a bit annoying, although, as a plus point, there was a fridge, which was, thankfully empty of expensive snacks, so you could put your water and wine in it.
Plus point - breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice, unless you wanted English tea with milk.
We ate at the hotel buffet on our first evening, but would recommend you find something cheaper on the other nights you stay, a the food is very expensive. Nouvelle Ville is only 15 minutes walk away, and there are a number of restaurants in the area, and if you don’t eat in Djemaa el Fna, you haven’t been to Marrakesh!
Incidentally, should you decide to go walking to Nouvelle Ville after dark, I would say that we never felt uncomfortable or fearful walking around. The street lighting is generally good in the area, although the uneven pavements can trip up the unwary.
It’s a shame the hotel isn’t a bit closer to town – being 15 minutes from the edge of Nouvelle Ville, but its not a bad walk, if you ignore the noise of the traffic.
If you want to find its location on Google Maps, look to the North West of the city, and you will see an area called Fassi, and an area called Akioud. Well around about here is the intersection of the N7 and the N9. The hotel is just to the south of this intersection.
Tichka Salam? A very good hotel in Marrakesh.

I wanted the lights the tables the tiles, all very typical moroccan, really lovely and interesting decor.
Our room had a little balcony which was pleasant to sit out on. The bed was enormous at least six feet wide. Clean bedding and towels. Bathroom fine and the shower worked well.
Choice of places to eat, the all you can eat breakfasts are great, and the Buffet evenings too.
The "posh" restuarant has some excellent dishes, something for everyone. Staff all very friendly and helpful, be prepared to give a small tip for services.
Bus stop just along the road number 1 takes you into town at 3.5 dirhams, the taxi in a petit one is around 20 dirhams, you may pay more at night. Agree a price before you go.
If you are not a "haggler" by nature, there are some Artisan markets with government fixed prices, hard to find so go by taxi.
Beware people asking if you are lost, are english, etc, they will always have a shop somewhere which they will take you too, can be fun but also expensive, you'll at least get a glass of mint tea!!
Loved the hotel, loved Marrakech.
