Staying in Okura hotel in early September 2012. Overall, the hotel is great, in the sense of location, room facilities and cleaniness. However, I found few aspects which the hotel can improve:
The buffet time should also.be lengthened to 11:00am.
2. Free wifi is available, but of very low speed.if you want faster connection,.you need to pay for extra money, which make me feel.bad. I had lived in peninsula and the free wifi connection of good speed.
1. Breakfast selection is not enough, especially for international style.
3. Some taxi driver did not know how to get there, as it is just newly opened.
I booked the limousine transfer from the airport. A bit pricey but the mercedes with the adjustable rear seats was brand new and very comfortable. Nice welcome and upgrade to a corner room in the 32nd floor! Arriving in the night I only did find out in the morning that the shades in the bathroom could be opened to have a ceiling to floor window view from the shower! The price for the room was more than fair.
This is a true Japanese gem surprisingly found in Bangkok. A truly 5* accommodation of the highest standard. The set up and modern design reminded me so much of my favorite Tokyo hotel: The Capitol Tokyu. High tech toilet like in Japan. I will definitely return.
I only stayed at the Okura for one night at the end of a long business trip but what a great hotel. The Okura in Tokyo is one of my favorite hotels, so when I saw that they were opening a proprty in Thailand I was keen to stay there. The hotel combines a modern and very stylish interior with great Thai hospitality and service. The rooms themselves are wonderfully appointed, with tremendous attention to detail and comfort. The staff were, without exception, charming and attentive but without being intrusive. Unfortunately, I was only able to stay for one night but the Okura is certainly high on my list of places to stay in Bangkok.
We had a six day stay at Okura Prestige in Bangkok. Overall we were satisfied, but it was not “perfect”.
Pros:
- Excellent breakfast in the Up and Above restaurant
- Stylish décor and interior
- Fancy high-tech toilets
- Club Lounge has charming employees and the food is fresh and appetizing
- Nice pool
- Nice bathroom amenities
- Great dinner in the Up and Above restaurant
Cons:
- Wi-Fi in hotel works fine on everything but Apple-products (Ipad, Iphone etc.), very unstable.
- Okura Club Room is a little small, compared to other hotels in Bangkok with executive lounge access etc.
- Breakfast only lasts until 10.30, even in the executive lounge. Hotels like i.e. Siam Kempinski have breakfast until 11 in the regular restaurant and 11.30 in the lounge.
- No tea-time in the executive lounge.
- The temperature in the gym was too high. Every day we had to ask to lower the temperature, but didn’t feel much different though.
- We usually had breakfast at 09.30 every day. By that time some of the staff working was very busy clearing the tables (that had not been used) and getting it ready for lunch (I guess). This felt a little bit unnecessary and stressed, sitting there trying to enjoy breakfast with one hour left of the breakfast-serving.
We had great expectations for this hotel, even though it is very newly opened, and by all means it is very good. However, I don’t think this will be our first choice when returning to Bangkok. This is not only because of the cons listed, but also due to some other reasons, like i.e. location, which the hotels itself can do nothing about.
