We only stayed at the Sofitel for one night before flying back to the UK the next day so we did find the hotel a great location for the international airport. Taxi to/from BKK was about 400 Baht and it barely took 30 mins. The hotel is linked to a huge shopping mall which is great for last minute shopping. If you want to go into town, it's a bit of a trek but easily done too. Take a taxi to the nearest Skytrain station for about 50 Baht and then the Skytrain into town for 35 Baht. The hotel also has a shuttle bus at various times during the day to take you into BKK.

Rooms were a bit dated I thought but nonetheless clean and spacious and we weren't going to spend much time in the room anyway. Breakfast was very good, huge choice of both Asian and International cuisine.

My client booked the hotel for a 2-day business trip. I had a deluxe room, which was fairly small, but well equipped. A bit run-down (stained carpet, some peeling paint around the door knob), but clean and neat. Highspeed internet was included (I think) in the room rate. I had a package deal for 5000 Baht/day which included a pickup at the airport (in an also somewhat rundown Mercedes...). I have stayed in cleaner/better hotels but this is not bad.

Nice hotel easy to access to the underground system in Bangkok, the bus stop is just around the corner and near the old airport (Don Mueng). Also the hotel is next to one of the Central Department Stores in Bangkok and has nice swimming pool area.

I stay here on a business trips as it is close to the office.
The rooms need some refurbishment but are sufficient in size and cleanliness. We usually try to book the 'Dynasty Club' floors or the suites on each level. This gives you extra sized rooms and also access to the Dynasty Club floor which has a free breakfast, daytime snacks and evening drinks.
For recreation the pool is lovely and the gym is reasonable. The Central Plaza shopping mall is next door which is great if you enjoy 'mall' shopping. In terms of restaurants the hotel has a good Chinese and Italian. The mall also has a food court and restaurants.
In terms of transport the hotel organizes shuttle buses to the local metro station, weekend market (this is a great place for shopping) and also into the shopping/downtown district of Bangkok. The hotel also organised a local taxi driver to do a tour of our requested sights in Bangkok for five hours. This cost us 400 Baht per hour plus a tip at the end. Even though the hotel is a little out of the centre the tollways mean you can reach downtown Bangkok in 15-20 mins.
