We were at the hotel as part of a group that was having a private party. Our party had reserved the main ballroom two days in a row, and one of the restaurants one of the afternoons that we were there. We also had all of our meals catered by the hotel, so spent quite a bit of money.
While the rooms themselves were comfortable and roomy, it was the staff that I found to be totally unprofessional. My check-in was uneventful, and went smoothly. I know of several in our group who had horrendous problems, tho, and one person who had the hold put on her account twice because there was a screw up at check in the first time, so they re-did it the next morning and assured her only the second time would put a hold on her card. Wrong! It wreaked havoc with her credit card balance, to have twice the amount being held than what she was supposed to have, with no guaranteed release before 20 days!
My biggest problem with the staff was during our private party events. On more than one occasion, staff who was NOT working our event kept slipping in and taking UNAUTHORIZED pictures of our private party. We had our own security at the door to prevent party crashers from entering, but had no idea how to differentiate from what staff was supposed to be in there and who was not. Not to mention, some of them would slip through the kitchen entrance. This was addressed with hotel management, with promises to address the problem. However, the next day it happened again, with members of our event witnessing staff members taking cell phone pictures. The organizer of our party chased down some of the offenders and forced them to delete pictures in front of him. Once more, hotel management was notified and they again assured our group that it would be taken care of.
After the third time staff members who were NOT working the party came in and took pictures with their phones, and conversations were heard in the hallway by a member of OUR party between staff telling one another the best way to get into the private event undetected, our organizer really hit the roof and stormed down to management. The next event we had in the ballroom, the hotel actually assigned their own security along with ours to keep staff out who did not belong in the room for work.
I mean, at least they did that --- but a better system could be in place to allow organizers of events to know WHO should and should not be in the room working, whether it be special name tags or a staff list of who's working. In an event where the members themselves were not allowed to have cameras or take pictures, it was a complete invasion to have staff use their badges to wander in and take pictures willy nilly without people's consent, to do with whatever the hell they pleased. >:(
We will not use this hotel again for any future events.
