I would first like to say that I have wrote some constructive criticisms about the All Seasons Badawia but let me just say that we loved the hotel, the staff and food. We are already planning the next visit in September this year.
So the review, I’m going to start from the airport.
The Transfer, Well what can I say! I felt like I was on a roller coaster from hell. It’s my first time in Egypt and they drive like the roads belong only to them (The driver). The return transfer home was faultless! I do know that the All Seasons has a taxi firm running from the lobby so I would recommend to phone and book a taxi! From what I can remember it’s about 200LE which is around £20.00 for a return. I will be booking when I return.
The Hotel, Ok it’s a three star so we wasn’t expecting the Hilton. When we pulled up I was thinking OMG it looks a bit tired and uninviting but a lick of paint will resolve this. The reception was not a lot better, however a lick of paint , better lighting , a few nice terracotta pot plants dotted out the front and in reception would easily resolve the first impression of becoming a negative to a positive. When we checked in and was shown to our room I wasn’t happy. We booked with travel republic a double room meaning a double bed and we had two singles but we later found out the hotel only do singles (Shame on you travel Republic). We also asked for some tea/coffee making facilities as we both like a coffee first think and they wasn’t, the room also smelt of something unpleasant. (It would appear that the smell was the shower curtain, which all need replacing)I asked to move there and then and the guys in reception where fine and moved us. The second room was much better; we didn’t get tea/coffee facilities but just wanted to sleep as it was a long day. The morning after the day before and after a good sleep I must say the hotel was much better. Please persevere and see beyond your first negative impression if you have them, like we did because this is truly a perfect place to stay. In a nut shell the changes needed to the hotel are only really cosmetic and a tiny improvement on housekeeping like clean glasses, and table clothes in the dining room. The only structural change would be a complete revamp of the dining room, but this does not affect the service provided by staff or the food being cooked fresh and hot, very tasty or the feel of the place. The room has a toilet, sink and shower in one room plenty of space (please be careful of the switches near to the shower) the lower floors open out to your own table and chairs which over look an up and coming garden with views to the pool, lovely. The living area in the bedroom is plenty big enough with two large single beds, a bedside table, a TV and wardrobe (make sure you take hangers) There are safety deposits in the room at no extra charge and a dressing table. Also a fridge
The pool was great, nice looking but a little cold, it was clean and always kept tidy. This was down to the pool boy Mohammed whom always sorted out our sun beds and asked if we were ok. I would like to add some lights in the pool during the night; this would make it look stunning. Around the whole pool area was spotless and plenty of beds.
The food and Bar, The restaurant can do with a lick of fresh paint and maybe the staff in uniform (Trousers and shirt) but I have no complaints with the food. Breakfast was always lovely, there was fresh bread, fruit, pastries and a chef freshly cooking eggs and my favourite PANCAKES! There was a couple of cheeses on offer and one choice of cold meat. Some olives would have been nice but this a personal preference otherwise there is always something for breakfast. Ask the waiters and you can have a boiled egg too. As we were only half board lunch wasn’t free but again I wasn’t disappointed. I ordered the cheese burger and my girlfriend a tuna salad sandwich which was cheap, the dinner again equality fantastic. Always hot, each night there was different Rice, pasta and potatoes dishes on offer along with vegetables and vegetables in a beautiful tomato sauce, again fresh bread, salad and the desert was nice. Now the Bar, I cannot comment too much on the Pool bar (Sunken bar in the pool) as it wasn’t open the week we stayed but I like the little seats in the pool.(Looked a little tidy but again nothing a little tidy up wouldn’t sort) The other two bars were ok. Again we was only half board so had to pay for drinks which we didn’t mind but 40LE about £3.85 for a very small glass of wine I feel is way too much, 20LE for beer PERFECT. (Glasses could do with a better wash and dry and slightly larger wine glasses) again as mentioned this does not affect the service provided. There is a pool table in one bar which you have to pay for but I think it wouldn’t hurt being free and maybe a pool competition one night would be nice. (This I think would get people interacting with one another which results in a good night).
Entertainment, The Bedouin night show OMG what a great night. I won’t go too much into it but the food was out of this world, did come out a little too fast though please slow down! And the show was perfect only 100LE per person let me tell you well worth the money and karaoke two nights of the week. I’m not a lover of karaoke but Karim you can sing free popcorn NICE, just another great night at The All Seasons Badawia.
The Staff, There are far too many to mention them all but Karim the hotel guest relations manager perfect, Rooney loved his dancing but the Salon guy was slightly annoying and was going on and on regarding facials and nail treatments. Don’t get me wrong he’s done a good job but when you say let me think about it be prepared to see him another 5 times the same day. Now the shop keeper guy (he run/owns the shop in the hotel) wished I can remember his name, but what a very nice person to have around. He was so polite and the shop has everything you need and at good prices. Please buy from him!
The Beach, There is a bus that goes from the hotel to the beach around 3 times per day; it also collects you at certain times. Please confirm the pickup time with the driver as they vary to what’s on the time table. 5 Guests were at the return pick up point 15 minutes before the bus was due and he’d been and gone so had to take a taxi back! Also note that on the return journey the bus drops off at other hotels so there may not even be enough room on the bus! If this does happen it will take you about 20/25 minutes to walk back (There is a bit of a hill involved in this) the beach itself we could not find fault with. Terrezza 2 was the beach being used. You are only permitted to use this from certain hotels and you must purchase their food and drink. This is very reasonably priced and is out of this world especially the sea food platter, there is plenty there for two. I had this with a salad and was only 100 LE. It does come with rice and chips but that’s a bit heavy for lunch for me! The staff at the beach leave you alone except when you need to order and are very very polite and clean. The beach was again very very clean and felt 100% safe there. The toilets were clean on 1 of the 2 days visited. The second visit there was no cleaner to attend the loo, when he was there the previous day they were spotless. You do not get pestered here, just the usual for newspaper or pedicures ect, however when you say no thank you they leave you alone. If you want a good scuba div , snorkel day you can catch Luca or perez on the beach who sell these trips for a company called “The Coral Diving Club“ We were stunned at how superb this whole day trip was from the cost to the health and safety. Just faultless so much so that we are completing our PADI with them in Sept!
The Local Area, Now I’ll let you find out for yourselves but behind the hotel is a fantastic little parade of shops and a few restaurants and coffee bars. This includes Starbucks and a great Bakery shop called Charleston Bakery, I’m sure these cakes are made from heaven because wow the taste so good and also they is a nice little shop on the left as you walk up from dirty track road called Bazar, again what a nice gentleman. He remembered us when we came back to but a picture and was always very polite so again please visit him.
Overall, Even thought I have put some constructive criticisms down we had a FANTASTIC TIME at the All Seasons Badawia and have given it a 5 star rating. Thank you all so much for making our stay pleasant and feel welcome. We will be coming back to visit so remember us! Please remember the constructive criticisms we have made really are minor like a lick of paint, better lighting etc and small house keeping we both cannot wait to go back 6 months and counting.
