We chose this resort only because of our 5 year old and the "Bambse" kids club in the resort. If we would have known better we have never come to this place. We stayed first at the hotel wing in the 3rd floor. There was some air condition compressor over the ceiling and it was making lot of noise during the evenings and nights. We complained about this to the hotel reception and the answer from them was "maybe it'll go away tomorrow". On the second day we contacted our travel agency "Finnmatkat" (part of TUI Nordic) and they arranged to get maintenance guy over, but with no help at all. Third time I told the hotel to set us a new room or travel agency to change hotel if nothing will be done. Resolution; we got beach bungalow without extra cost. Bungalow (with pool) was good, but really as we looked at the prices and compared to our previous vacation in Khao Lak's Kantary Resort, this bungalow was overrated in price by far.
Overall cleanness of the resort was below average most likely due to age of the resort. There should be serious renovations done in order to maintain the 4 star level. From our point of view this is max 3 star mediocre resort.
Restaurants; overpriced and poor quality dishes. The dinner buffet is really a joke - I have never spent 1000 bahts so poorly on such terrible food. So we went there twice - first and last time! The programs in the beach side buffet restaurant were too noisy - they had setup kids' seats in front of the speakers which were very very loud. And this was also the problem for our room as the programs were disturbing daily routines of getting 5-year old into sleep at nights. They should really think over that this is family resort and most families are trying to go to bed around 9 PM. Or most certainly check the sound level! And about the programs - the Coco clown was drunk one night stumbling on one innocent kid in the audience. Not good!
There is a street dividing the two sections of the resort. The traffic during the morning is heavy and there are security guys blowing heavily on the whistles ever since 5 in the morning. Again if you are situated in the hotel complex - good luck sleeping since you will be waked by the constant whistle blows.
Breakfast. Below average and for the size of the resort, the breakfast premises are awfully too small during the peak season.
Poolside: There is rule that sun beds can be reserved max 2 hours unattended, but our lovely Nordic people reserved all the bed by 07:00AM so if you wake too late you will not get sun bed at that day. The hotel management should really enforce the non-reservation or triple the amount of sunbeds and also get some on the beach. Seriously, this bugged us out!
Service; The bathrobes and sandals of the hotel were removed from our room after couples of days and in the check out phase they accused us stealing them. Also this happened to minibar beers which we did not touched. Reception services - good and they can arrange trips for best price. Don't take tuktuk taxis nearby if you are going for a long trip like to White Sand Beach or Elephant trekking - hotel can arrange better and cheaper set for you.
Location is probably the only factor which is good about this resort - it's close to the Khao Lak downtown and walking to restaurants take approx. 5 minutes.
This resort does not have free WIFI as other nearby hotels, resort and restaurants have. And our fellow travelers who chose to buy hour's ticket for wifi internet lost the connection at their bungalow and never got it back and lost the money. Seriously - again one of the rip off things.
