Anjajavy was recommended to us by friends. When looking at the internet site, I was not completely convinced, but my wife pushed for it and we decided to go. That's a good thing, because we found a corner of paradise there.
The welcome is exceptional. The manager, Cedric de Foucault, is passionate about Madagascar, and he share his interest in this rich culture and country with you in a discreet and subtle way. This hotel is extremely well managed under his leadership. Unlike the majority of mass hotel chains that exist today, this place has a soul and personality, much of it due to the masterful management by Cedric. One has the sense that the staff is happy and proud to work for Anjajavy and all of their efforts converge around the goal of making your stay as excellent as possible. This result is certainly the outcome of alot of effort and education in training local staff that did not speak much french and any english even ten years ago!
Anjajavy, is an oustanding example of a hotel that integrates with the community around it, particularly in a place that is extremely remote and far away from the modern urban world that most of us come from. This is evident in the respect that Anjajavy has for its surroundings, in the hiring and training of local staff, and also in the harmonious relations that the resort maintains with the local neighboring villages. When we asked the manager before arriving if there was anything we could bring to him or his family from France, he proposed that we bring toothbrushes and pens to contribute to the local schoolchildren.
The architecture of the hotel is simple but very beautiful and the bungalows are lovely and blend in well to the natural environment. The place is very comfortable and very tasteful and refined.
The food is excellent, healthy and clean. The table settings are lovely and the service top notch.
The property is extraordinary and very diverse, ranging from private beaches with dramatic cliffs, red earth, white sand and clear aqua sea, the neighboring villages and local culture, the large beach in front of the swimming pool. There are many activities available for those who are bored by sitting at the beach all day, including many nature hikes, fishing, boating, catamaran, and kayaking and others that I am forgetting now. There is a good variety of wildlife to see including two types of lemurs, alot of birdlife and flora. There are also several nice surprises which await you!
We have travelled to a wide range of hotels including many very exceptional and luxurious places. Anjajavy is an exceptional hotel with impeccable taste in harmony with its surroundings.
We recommend it without hesitation! It is a great destination for couples but also for families and children.
