Koh Lanta has overall lower quality of hotels, than in some other places of Thailand (the prices are also cheaper). This hotel is not an exception.
This is one of the very first hotels on a long Klong Nin beach. The inner hotel's area is clean and nice with a small garden. But, surrounded by roads from 3 sides, this place is not as quiet as we could expect - although the room is quiet enough. The hotel is located not directly on the beach, as you could decide from its name - the bungalows are separated from the beach restaraunt by noisy road. The beach was definitely not clean when we've arrived - the storm threw out lots of garbage from the sea, including broken glass. The staff did not rush to clean the beach, so I did clean it myself and collected tens of broken glass pieces along with a plastic garbage. Next days they were cleaning the beach themselves. For the reference, Koh Lanta is probably the most dirty island from all Thai islands I saw, cause only hotel's areas are cleaned and nothing else.
The beach chairs were also definitely not new and a bit dirty. The beach area between the restaraunt and the sea is not that wide as on the photo, especially when a water comes closer. On arrival we've asked for more quiet room, but anyway we've got a room directly in front of the road. Next day I asked to change the room, and the second room was better. I believe the room itself is OK - it has a comfortable large bed and relatively new air conditioner. But the bed veils were with a holes in both rooms, and the bath towels were looking like not replaced since the hotel opening. The bathroom was nothing special and the shower is just a solid tube from the wall, the water heater is also not powerful enough. There is no satellite TV in the room and most TV channels are local and thus useless. I also did not like a cheap energy-saving lamps with a white medical light inside a room. It was obvious that the management was trying to cut the costs as much as they can. There is a very few lighting of the territory in a dark time, and once it was a bit hard to find our bungalow! Despite the Christmas season, there were absolutely no Christmas decoration in the hotel until Dec 24. The dinner is their restaraunt was OK, but they added a beef stake for 280 THB to the total, which we did not order. We had just 1 dinner there. I have also noticed that there were no trash bins on the territory - obviously to save on garbage transportation. There were mosquitos in a room and I had many bites on my body after some days of stay. The breakfast was valued 150 THB for person (the price from the menu), the real value is about 50 THB, and consisting of 2 eggs, 2 toasts and some fruits. The hotel has a free Wi-fi at the lobby, and that was important for me - although many other hotels in this area offer the same. The pool is also nothing special and is just about 10 meters from the road. There is no water pipes near bungalow to wash the feets, like in many other hotels. The hotel staff did allow people from outside to use hotel's beach chairs if they purchase something in a restaraunt, and they did ignore our complaints about that. Generally, after you've paid them, they don't care at all because they have no-refund policy. Because there are many cheap guest houses not that far away, the hotel's beach is a victim for freebies from those guest houses. Despite the numerous staff in the hotel, most of them do nothing throughout the day, and definitely not serve you, many requests are forgotten and ignored. The overall service quality and value of this hotel is also very close to a guest house and definitely not 3 stars hotel. The staff (especially cleaning staff) was non-friendly, not smiling and hiding their eyes when you come closer. There was a an infant baby crying every day and especially morning in the local house not far from our room. The only serious plus of the hotel was, of course, the beach - with a magical ocean view for 180 degrees. It also has many shops and restaraunts not that far away. One year before we did stay in Amantra resort on the same beach, it's a bit more expensive, but I believe it has much better value for money, including more wide and more private beach, better pool, more green view, better breakfast and more quiet location. But, this year they also wanted too much for the room, despite the fact that most hotels were almost empty. While walking on the beach, I have also noticed Paradise hotel, which was looking very new and nice in comparison to Clean Beach Resort.
P.S. Once we have purchased a trip to koh Rok island from the hotel's agent, and they have sold us a cheaper boat instead of promised on purchase, so we have paid 800THB more than other people, who purchased from another agents. I treated that as a pure fraud, so beware!
