My boyfriend and I booked this one through a travel agent who said that it was nice enough for a 3-star resort. I would not recommend Morgan's Cove Resort and Casino to anyone with high standards. Despite the convenient location (10 minute stroll into town) and clean beach, the place itself was lackluster in the following ways:
If you pay something by VISA, there might not be a connection in the front desk area for your card to work, so make sure you don't have anywhere to be in a hurry; I heard this from three other guests in addition to my boyfriend's own disappointing experience on our 2nd day there.
They missed two consecutive days of requested wake-up calls and were late with another, only on time with two out of five calls!
The bathroom ceiling had evidence of mold in the upper corner of the shower.
The drinks were plentiful, but no amount of alcohol could make me forget the case of bug bites I did not have before I slept in that bed. It is of course possible that I got bitten by outside insects but I did wear DEET everywhere besides the ocean and my bed. To boot, my boyfriend slept in a separate bed and suffered no bites...so I leave that one at your discretion.
The staff were nice on the whole, but I feel that the overall experience made any of their flaws shine...My boyfriend and I booked this one through a travel agent who said that it was nice enough for a 3-star resort. The staff were nice on the whole, but I feel that the overall experience made any of their flaws shine rather than mute them such as asking for wake up calls and not getting them for example. I had to ask fellow guests to give my door a knock so we would not miss our tour bus in the morning just in case.
The buffet was good enough and the fruit and fish were impeccably fresh, a great relief!
The last irksome thing I must address was the blood stained bedsheets. It wasn't much, granted, but I know for a fact that they don't change some of your sheets when the make up the rooms because the same pattern of dried blood was on the sheets consecutive times. I wouldn't worry about contracting disease from washed sheets, but it still leaves a bad impression, no?
So, go there if you are not picky, don't stay in a room with painted-over mildew in the shower and wear bug repellent to bed, I guess. The location is great and overall my trip was fun, but I may be a more forgiving and patient soul than you are. In that case, spend the extra cash (not VISA) and book another place to stay in Jaco.More
