My best friend and I chose the Mine for our first trip to Buenos Aires a few months ago. We were two women in our early 30s who wanted a safe, yet cozy and modern, environment and the Mine did not disappoint. It actually exceeded our expectations!
The hotel itself is very clean, sleek, modern. Not your average big chain hotel with room after room. This is, after all, a boutique hotel, so on the smaller side, but the layout of the hotel makes great use of space. Very intimate and the staff make your stay all the more comfortable. Big props to Bibiana at the front desk - arranged everything from taxis to dinner reservations for us. She also took the time to mark up a map for us and explain where all the cool shopping areas were and how to get there. Their customer service was impeccable.
The room was great - we had a standard room with two double beds and it was plenty big for the two of us and our luggages and all the shopping bags we accumulated along the way. The beds were super comfy and the decor in the room was tasteful. I loved going out on our balcony and just looking at people go by. The bathroom was very nice - and the water pressure in the shower was good and water was nice and warm. Very pleased with the bathroom!
The restaurant in the lobby serves awesome breakfasts and I had their burger and fries twice - it was that good! I know, a burger in BA? But it was made with Argentinean beef and was so juicy and perfect, I couldn't resist having it once more before we left.
The area - the heart of Palermo Soho - is awesome. We walked and shopped. Walked and ate. Walked and people watched. It's such an alive neighborhood and we didn't at all feel unsafe at any point in time.
We also stayed one night in Recoleta in a big chain hotel, on our way back from El Calafate at the end of our trip, and the feeling was different - more stale - than at the Mine. I would take a boutique hotel over a big chain hotel any day.
We were very pleased with having stayed the majority of our time at the Mine. We loved every minute of our stay and wouldn't stay anywhere else if we ever make it back to BA. If you're on the fence about staying there, do yourself a favor and book it. You won't regret it.
