I was attending a conference across the street at the Biltmore, but decided to stay at the Hilton instead. It's walking distance to LA Live and is and easy cab ride to Hollywood.

The gym there is small, but it has a great view of the city.

The Hilton Checkers LA feels like a wonderful botique hotel. The rooms may be considered small by some, but that just adds to the charm. The room I had, 1009, we beautiful. The classic marble bathroom was lovely, the bed was incredible, and the overall decor was elegant and relaxing. The roof top pool area is an incredible place to relax.

The only sore point is the tiny gym, which is no maintained. The treadmills were out of allignment and certian features didn't work. You had to press some buttons very hard to get one of the machines to go on. There is no bicycle and overall the gym is an inadequate size for the # of rooms in the hotel.

Service at the hotel was excellent. Breakfast was tasty.

I'd stay here anytime I need to be in downtown LA.

Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased to hear you had an opportunity to enjoy the rooftop during your stay. The hotel’s open-air rooftop deck offers spectacular views while enjoying the hotel’s pool and spa.

We have heard the feedback regarding the hotel fitness facilities and are currently working on a plan to offer a better experience for our fitness minded guests.

I stayed here while I was attending a conference at the LA convention center, it was an easy & pleasant walk to my meetings or it was a quick ride on the blue line to Pico station. Check-in was a very nice experience, I don't remember her name, but the lady at the front desk was quite nice & helpful; a great start to our stay. During the rest of the stay, all of the staff was very professional. A comfy & luxurious... but small-ish room on the 11th floor was a restful retreat, there was no view, however it was very quiet. The room was clean and all was in good order, the bed was super comfortable! I stayed at other Hiltons in the past, this one was certainly the best. The rooftop deck with pool and fitness center is absolutely breathtaking, especially at night, what a view! I did not try the restaurant or the bar. The free business center is a plus to check emails or print an airline boarding pass. This has nothing to do with the hotel itself; downtown LA was pleasant, but there is many homeless people all around, I don't scare easily, but some people could be uneasy in this "setting"... Pershing Square next door was overrun by them. It's a sad sight to see... Overall, I would recommend the Hilton Checkers and would stay here in the future without a doubt.

Room tip: Even if your view is not great, go on the rooftop and you'll get a view alright!

Stayed at Hilton Checkers due to my daughter's cheer competition being held downtown. The hotel was nice enough, rooms are pretty small but nice. Valet was easy enough if I called down 15mins before departure. Now the pool, the kids loved this part and the view was amazing at night.
My room had a view of a brick wall

Rany C. Baroudi, Director of Operations at the Hilton Checkers and staff (Sherry) did an outstanding job at making my party of four feel very much at home. They went above and beyond the normal call of duty to ensure that our Los Angeles experience at this Hilton property was a most pleasant one.

If you are so lucky enough to encounter Sherry, the most pleasant member of the reception staff, you will see why she's a GREAT representation of superior customer service. She is a consummate professional, who made us feel very welcomed and appreciated.

If you are in the downtown LA area and looking for an excellent restaurant, please consider the Checkers. We enjoyed several out of this world meals that by far surpassed any other dining experience in Los Angeles or anywhere else.

We dined at a "celebrity chef" restaurant at LA Live, but soon realized that our food experience at the Checkers provided THE BEST in food and service.

Thanks Rany for making our first trip to Los Angeles a very memorable one!
