I can sympathise with some of the recent reviews which complained about construction noise. There was construction going on when we were there and even though it was close to our room it didn't disturb us early in the morning, and we were out when it was going on. We also had no neighbor noise, as someone else reported - maybe we just had quiet (or no) neighbors.
We liked the grounds, with lots of colorful flower beds, and the view from the bar/restaurant over Morro Bay is amazing. The restaurant was closed on our visit as it was still early in the season but theys erved the full menu in the bar, where the barman could not have been more helpful and there was a lovely romantic atmosphere, with a fire burning in the corner. the food was good too, as was the breakfast the next morning - helped by those wonderful views over the bay and the birds flying back and forth.
The location is peerfect as you can walk right out into the Morro Bay State Park, past the Heron Rookery, which was in full swing with hundreds of birds nest-building when we were there mid-April. We went to the little but lovely museum, walked along the beach, and then it was all-too-soon time for us to hit the road.
This was one of those hotels we were really sorry to leave, as we'd had a perfect stay there. If we're back in Morro Bay this will be our first choice of where to stay.
