As I listen to the train blowing its horn as it passes close to my room I think about what someone in town told me about this is not a good place to be on the weekend. The room is clean , the people are nice, the location is bad. Not great area, near clubs so that will mean strangers hooking up here for the weekend not to mention the train horn that has been going by all night.

The Inn at Jack London Square is located about a half mile from the Amtrak Station and very convenient to Bart and the Oakland/Alameda/San Francisco Ferry. That is the sole justification for choosing to stay there. The railroad tracks are just a few blocks away and you will hear loud whistles all night long. Business picks up nearby very early in the morning with trucks making deliveries. The Inn itself is showing signs of age, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. Three stars for the rooms and grounds, two for everything else. The rooms are on three floors surrounding a large, attractive courtyard with a clean swimming pool.

We traveled to Oakland to drop off our son at college with another family also delivering their daughter to college. After several searches on Trip-Advisor we selceted this hotel based on other traveler reviews and the proximity to the School and San Francisco. We had a late night arrival but were greeted and checked in quickly and pleasantly. The clerk on duty was very gracious when we requested adjoining rooms and he acomodated our request without reproach (I would like to thank him by name but I did not write it down). The rooms were nicely decorated and resembled the photographs online & they were clean and comfortable but a bit on the small side. The property is well maintained and we felt safe while in on the premises. The hotel is two blocks from the train tracks and Amtrack Station, so other people in my party had trouble sleeping with the train noise durring the night, I'm a heavy sleeper and did'nt notice. We had all of our breakfast and some evening meals at the dinner located on the premises, which saved us time and$$, with good food and service. There is a ferry at the Jack London Square that takes you to San Francisco and back which we thought was inexpensive and convinient. Overall, I would say that our 5 day stay was worth the price & we would stay here again on our future trips to se the kids if they have accomodations available.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Inn at Jack London Square. The lovely modern and "green" decor was so warm and inviting. The bed was the most comfortable bed we'd slept on at any hotel. We had so much to see & do while in the area but found it hard to want to get out of that big, comfy bed! Very convenient location too. We walked just a few blocks to the ferry that took us to Pier 39. Fabulous mexican restuarant just a stones throw around the corner from the hotel on the way to catch the ferry. Outdoor patio seating made it a great experience! Best salsa ever. Wish I could remember the name. We will DEFINITELY stay at this place on our next trip to the area and recommend it to our friends.
