My friend works for Marriot and gets a discount, so for our trip to San Francisco, we stayed at the Oakland Marriot becuase it was much cheaper than a San Francisco Marriot. In hindsight we wish we would have booked any other hotel in San Francisco. Because the BART stops running at night, we couldn't stay out too late in the city, and after waiting forever and taking the long train ride back to the hotel, we went to bed every night sober. There wasn't much to do in Oakland either. This place would be fine for business, but not for a relaxing vacation / holiday.

Stayed here for 3 nights for business.
POSITIVES
1) Nice clean room.Quiet.Nice linens
2) Friendly helpful front desk
3) There is a Hertz Rental Car attached to the hotel which makes it REALLY easy to get a car. I needed a car a day earlier than than anticipated and they had it for me in less than an hour.
4) BART is literally just out the door. Took BART to/from SFO which was very easy and about $60 cheaper than a taxi
5) farmers market 2 blocks away on saturday morning
6) Chinatown a few blocks away
7)Attached to Convention Center
8) I think there is an small pool on the roof

NEGATIVES
1)Parking at the hotel is expensive ($26/night)
2)The area is dead and a bit rough at night with no restaurants open past 10pm. And room service is closed after that time---all that was open was a questionable Burger King a few blocks away!

I would recommend this hotel for the business traveller but not to someone on holiday.

I stayed at this hotel mid October and had a lovely corner room with great views! Room was spacious and clean. Hotel restaurant was a bit on the slow side but there was a big group staying there so maybe busier than expected. The food was good. The hotel is extremely accessible from the BART. I would stay here again.

I stayed at the hotel for three nights and I was very please with their exceptional service. All the servers at the restaurant and the bar were very friendly and helpful. My room was great and I would very much love to go back to this hotel.

stayed for the weekend to attend a wedding room was clean,quiet and a great value, booked priceline 70.00 a night. wonderful room sevice ,food was not overly priced and there was a decent amount.the orders were always there within 30 minutes. valet parking always had the car waiting for us with only 5 to 8 minutes notice.will stay again if in oakland again (we only live 40 minutes away).
