I was put up in this hotel for 4 nights during a recent business trip. We arrived quite late at the hotel, but had quite a friendly welcome at check-in. The reception had been waiting for our arrival and we felt happy that they kept the rooms for us eventhough we arrived at about 10pm without firstly informing them of our late arrival. The manager on duty was very warm and friendly and it was a pleasant welcome.
I was quite happy with the room - it was quite spacious, clean and comfortable. The huge king-sized bed was plush and inviting plus the sheets were clean. No problems with sleeping and they provided 4 pillows.
I greatly appreciated the complimentary high-speed WIFI. The flat screen LCD also added to the comfort of my stay and made the room feel quite modern, despite the rather traditional-looking furniture. My room looked out to the garden, which was very lovely and beautiful - nice fountain and great views of the garden which was blooming with purple flowers during my stay there. The landscaping is very well done and made the place very relaxing.
Bathroom was neat and clean. The white tiles and counter made it look bright and fresh. My complain here would be that they did not provide any shower cap, although they provided other basic amenities such as soap, shampoo and body lotion. I would have thought a shower cap is quite a basic amenity and it is quite surprising for them not to provide for it.
There was a mini refridgerator, coffee machine and a microwave in the room. Although they provided paper cups, they did not provide any porcelain mugs for the coffee or tea. It would be nice if they provided ceramic mugs since this can be re-used. The paper cups can be used if we needed to take-away our coffee or tea. No kettle was provided in the room.
We had breakfast with our room and it was at Faz Restaurant. Service from Faz himself was not great (he was rather grumpy and grouchy) but subsequent mornings, we had slightly better service from the other staff, eventhough there weren't that many people at breakfast. The level of service still needs improvement and the staff needs to be more attentive. The buffet breakfast spread was not considerable, but it was good variety and the taste of the food was good. One suggestion would be to change their breakfast buffet slightly on a daily basis since we had the same fare for 4 mornings and it can get a little boring.
Kudos to the hotel for providing 2 computers at the lobby with internet and printers. Printing is free and this was a much valued convenience, especially guests staying for business. You can always get something printed and for free! Parking is not an issue at all since there are many parking spaces and parking is complimentary.
The only major grouse I have with this hotel is the lack of elevators to the rooms. Although we had some help from the hotel staff to carry our luggages to our rooms (on the second floor), we did not have the same flexibility and mobility since we had to rely on the bellboy/staff. Upon check-out, we lugged our luggages down to our car ourself as this was much faster. However, it wasn't easy with huge and heavy luggages. If you expect to have heavy luggages, perhaps it would be good to ensure that you are checked into a room on the ground floor.
Overall, I would say that the pros out-weigh the cons and that my stay at this hotel was very pleasant. The hotel is quiet and the well-landscaped garden added to the serenity of the hotel.
Request for a room on the ground floor if you have heavy luggages or have mobility problems as there...
