On the weekend it appears that the PilotHouse Restaurant is offereing a wine tasting course with lunch. A group of girls took advantage of this and got a great lesson on wine tasting. The course was an introduction to wine tasting. We got to sample 4 types of wines. 2 whites and 2 reds. We were shown how to swirl, look at the wine in the light, smell and taste. They even gave use watermelon and lemon slices to show how the taste changes based on what you are earing. I'm by no means a wine expert but I thought it was a good overview of wine. I normally do not drink wine. The class was about 1 hour and afterwards we had lunch in the restaurant. The courese was held in the bar area. For lunch you had a choice of several items. I picked the crab cakes with salad (they did warn me that the portions for the crab cakes were small and they weren't kidding). It was more like appetizer size than lunch size. They also had soft cheese, bread and butter. Plus, you got a wine pairing with your lunch dish. They are also offereing a champagne course followed by a champagne breakfast in June. As for the decor it is very cute and woody inside. It feels like you are on a ship as the ground is not level. Everything was nice and clean. The food was good not the best I've had but good. I would come back for the ambience for sure. It was nice as we found this deal on one of those coupon sites so, we got this for a steal. I'm not sure how I would feel if I had to pay full price.
