We recently stayed at the Inn at East Beach on our south-west USA trip. This little happy place should be kept as a secret hidden place. But ok...I try to be honest with the tripadivisor users: It is really fantastic. WiFi included, rooms very nice decorated. Comfy beds and a real awesome breakfast. I definitely already miss it and will return! Frank the owner and also his daughter (???) are really lovely and make your stay like at home!

The only regret we have about The Inn at East Beach is not having time in our schedule to stay an extra night! Staying in Santa Barbara in a hotel with more than 2 stars is never cheap but the website offered us a very good september deal which made a junior king suite cheaper than a normal room in an average branded 3 star hotel. Because we were here beginning of october, we did not miss airconditioning. Operating the relatively silent fan and opening some windows for an hour did the trick. The junior king is big, has a complete kitchen (which we only used for breakfast) and two relaxing chairs in front of a tv and fireplace. Actually the room was so big that we forgot to take some of our stuff but Christine and her staff did everything they could to return it to us (thanks!). And this is only another example of how welcoming everyone at the Inn is, not only the famous and very nice Frank but also Christine and everyone else. They really have personal attention for every one of their guests. The pool is a little small but fine, and complimentary parking on the hotel grounds is a big plus, especially when you see the very crowded neighbourhood. The Inn is, as the name suggests, at the east side of Santa Barbara but the main shopping and dining area on State Street is 1,5 miles away. In daytime there is a convenient shuttle to the waterfront, we walked back which is doable. (Frank will tell you all about shuttles and dining ;) ).
Two minor cons: we could hear our neighbours flush the toilet, luckily they slept a good long night. I don't know if this is only in our room or in every room. And breakfast is great with pastries, choices of juices and 15 different teas (I would almost come back just for that), yoghurts and eggs, but we missed some cheese. But if you are looking for relatively affordable luxury in Santa Barbara, this is the place to go.

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for taking a moment to leave us you thoughts. I am very happy to hear that you had such a great time! I do understand about the flushing noise. We do have some soundproofing issues. This was not just your room. I am currently working to have our soundproofing updated during our next renovation. I am glad to know that this did not take away from your enjoyment. Cheese is not something we have ever considered for breakfast as it is not a common breakfast item for us. However, I will look into that now that I know there are folks out there who would enjoy that. Thank you for letting me know!

Kind Regards,

Christina Montalvo

We received a very warm welcome from Frank who provided an abundance of information on the town and gave us some useful vouchers for bars and restaurants.
The beds were comfortable, the showers nice and hot and there was ample parking at the back for our hire car. Breakfast in the morning was superb with a great selection of pastries, muffins, fruit, cereal and juices.
The location is great in a quiet part of town near the beach and a 20 minute walk to State Street.
We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night!

We stayed here for two nights in July (our second time), and once again Frank lived up to his reputation, he really makes this place what it is!!

The place is clean, comfortable, has good size rooms and IMO it offers very good value for money in (pricey) SB. The location is really good, WiFi worked perfectly and the self service breakfast is excellent. The property as such is nothing spectacular, but it just works so well as a great place to rest for a couple of days when touring around California.

What really makes this place so memorable that we returned after 7 years is Frank, who seems to be there 24/7, always chatty and making sure his guests are happy.

I work in the hotel industry, and it is such a joy to experience someone like Frank, who is not afraid of doing things his own way...........e.g. where others are trying out all sorts of tricks and gadgets to reduce the time spend on check in, some even to the point where there is hardly any human contact left whatsoever, Frank has gone the opposite way and decided that the best way to meet, greet and welcome his guests, is to introduce what must be the lengthiest check in procedure in the hospitality industry.....

Frank, thank you for keeping it personal, individual and engaging!!

We were thrilled with how close to the beach this motel was. Check in was fast, smooth, and super friendly. I met the owner (who lives on site) twice, and both times was super helpful. It is a bit too far from state street to walk, but a quiet location that was still close to everything.

My only complaint was no air conditioning. We were just coming off a Southern California heat wave, and it was humid and hot in the evenings. Though the rooms have all been redone, and are lovely and modern, this is still an old timey motel with no central air, and no wall units.

I would still happily stay again.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback. I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed you stay dispite our lack of air conditioning. I am working towards having it added during our next renovation, however, in the mean time, I do understand. Thank you for your understanding. I do hope will will get to see you again soon!
