My husband and I stayed here on a Friday evening as we were attending a function down the road. On arrival the reception staff were very helpful and professional and the porter took our bags to our room very swiftly. In the reception area they were making Pancakes which we thought was a nice touch. Our room was small but clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. The bar area was nice and clean and very sociable a good place to meet up with friends. Breakfast the following morning was wonderful couldn't ask for more and again the chief was making omelettes he was a very chatty man who couldn't do enough for you.

Dear Deb113
Thank you for the fantastic comments. We are enhancing our sense of arrival for our guests with our chef making pancakes at peak arrival times and offering warm beverages, so it is great to read your positive comments. I will pass your kind words on to the team. I hope we have the opportunity to visit the hotel again when you are next in the area.

The outside of the hotel looks inviting and there is plenty of free parking. The room we were in overlooked the golf course and was fairly quite. The king bed was very uncomfortable and no way to cool the room regrdless of what setting we turned it to so a good nights sleep was not to be had during our stay. Room service was hit and miss. One time prompt and the next time we had to call again. Food was tasteless. Sorry I cannot recommend this Marriott.

Out host booked this hotel for us when invited to a dinner dance at the Mecure Great Danes. Although we were just in a "guest room" I was impressed. The room was nice and spaceous and the light levels good - hotels are always normally dimly lit. The bathroom was good to and there were plenty of extras like a safe, mini bar (not that we touched that). The bed was a king size bed and we were very comfortable. I would go back here again. The breakfast we nice and fresh too with plenty of choice.

First the positives - plenty of parking - after I have stayed I now know why.....

I had booked two consecutive single nights and at reception they kindly offered to merge them into one two night stay. I didn't see what difference it would make but agreed. Mainly as I had just driven 4 hours needed the toilet, and got the feeling I was going to waste 10 minutes more on car details, loyalty cards, phone calls, newspapers, alarms, dinner reservations, rules on the gym, email address so they can compete with hilton to see who can send me the most junk mail, and of course telling me to ensure my stay.
By the end of it I needed new trousers.
After this was done and I was signed onto another loyalty card they mentioned that if I stayed for a second time I would enjoy a free night. I pointed out I had a second night booked and they realised it no longer qualified as they had merged the bookings - and couldnt undo it. Complete muppetry. The only positive being it didnt matter as I wouldnt stay again in this hotel if you paid me.
Negatives - room heating on full blast with thermostatic adjustment making no difference at all so failed to sleep for 2 nights. Noisy with poor sound insulation.
Lots of staff who didnt really seem to know what they were doing.
Food was really poor - we ate in the bar as the restaurant looked dead and had the worst burgers we have had in a long time, and the chicken wings were sized as a starter but priced as a main course. Paid £90 for 3 people and we were not drinking.
Conference facilites poor with disabled access a joke. Yes you could get in but if you wanted to get out to go to the toilet or eat with your colleagues you needed to call a member of staff, shut the staircase for everyone else, and hang around while everyone watched you being lowered down 5 steps.

Marriott - this hotel is a joke and lets you down. Worst of the franchise I have stayed in. If their was score lower than one star then I would gladly give it to you.

Room tip: Choose one in a different hotel

I stayed two nights at the Tudor Park in November 2014. I selected it as it was conveniently located for my client's premises. It was easy to find (using my sat nav), and parking was easy and free.

Check in was easy, and the reception staff most courteous. I had expected to be upgraded, as I am a Platinum member of the Marriott Rewards program, but all rooms are (apparently) "standard". There was no members lounge either.

I was given room 133, which was about 100 miles from reception. Half way there, I wishes I had collected a few sponsors. There was certainly a lot of elevation changes on the way too (few stairs up and down here and there).

Room was clean and reasonably comfortable, but starting to get a little tired looking. Room service was prompt and courteous.

Breakfast was alleged to open at 0630 (up another 3/4 flight of stairs), but was like a ghost town when I arrived (at 0630+5 seconds). I made my own way in, found a table, juice and cereal and it was a while before staff noticed I was present. The actually looked and behaved a little embarrassed about it, and service was good after this.

Wifi was free, I belive as I was a Marriott member - it is paid for otherwise.

The hotel seems to have everything any quest could need - pool, gym, golf course, conference center, etc, etc. But I didn't use any of this and cannot comment further.

If my review has informed you, please reward me with a "Helpful" vote. Happy travels!
