Like most, if not all of the reviews, this B&B has a great location in the middle of Duval Street. The owners and staff are very nice, friendly and helpful and the rooms very clean and nicely furnished (we were a group of 4 and had 2 rooms for 3 nights in November). All the rooms and cottages look good online and we chose the Poinciana Patio room - unfortunately this was a mistake. The room is positioned next to the service area and, when the staff are preparing breakfast, it can get very noisy. On the outside of the other side of the room is the breakfast area. The wall here must be very thin as we could clearly hear conversations of the guests having breakfast.
We also didn't like the small, flimsy shower / toilet area in one corner of the room nor that the sink was actually in the bedroom. If you value your privacy, this room is not for you! There is a patio area (one reason for us choosing the room) which the owners have attempted to make "private" with the use of plants. However, this doesn't really work and we woke to find other guests having breakfast on "our" table on a couple of occasions. Our friends had the Banyan Suite which was much better with a nice private patio.
On another negative point, the pool area is disappointing. It is small (which we expected) but the trees and shrubs have been left to overgrow so much that the area gets very little sun and the pool doesn't look too inviting. The weather was cool when we were there so it didn't affect us as we didn't use the area but had the weather been hotter, this definitely would have spoilt our enjoyment.
Having said all that, I would recommend the Tropical Inn because of it's plus points - mainly location - but I can' recommend the Poinciana Patio. Had the pool area been more attractive and less overgrown, I would have given 5 stars, not 4.
