My boyfriend and I just returned from a 3 night stay at the Innisbrook Golf and Spa Resort. Let me start by saying I am not a golfer. My boyfriend did golf 3 out of 4 courses so I have info on that from him. We stayed in a one bedroom suite. We liked it- very spacious with full kitchen, sitting room, and TV room. Bathroom was clean and always had hot water with good pressure. The suite was very dated. We both found it fun and charming but if you are looking for granite countertops and a modern feel this is not the room for you- we saw pics on their website of suites that looked ultra modern so if that is important to you then specify that when reserving room or suite. We did have 2 flat screens but limited cable and no HD for you guys out there like my boyfriend who can't live without it! We also had a patio- my favorite part of suite! We were on the end of the hallway so our patio wrapped around our suite overlooking the Copperhead. It was really cool- could sit outside and sip on a cocktail watching the golfers. We were on the ground floor and would also suggest that for largest patio.
The property is beautiful- the Island Course and Innisbrook Lake were my favorite. I would take frequent walks around the resort- if you do not golf and like the outdoors and pretty scenery you will have no problem entertaining yourself. You can fish in the lake at any time as the resort offers free gear at the tennis court shop. There are 4 tennis courts and 6 pools. I was only at two of the pools- the Lochness is the largest but LOTS of kids so only went to this pool once. I like the pool by our room- I believe the other 4 pools are the same as this one but spread around resort- with hardly any kids if you are looking for a more relaxing atmosphere. There are a few restaurants but only ate at resort twice- once at our pool and once at the Osprey- both times lunch and sandwiches were very good. They charge everything to your room and bill at checkout for convenience.
So the info I received from my boyfriend on the courses- The North Course was his least favorite- greens were not in great condition. He said it was a tie between the Island Course and Copperhead for his favorite which he enjoyed very much and said were both very challenging. He had a blast but also said he was not "blown away" by either course as far as condition they were in. He said they were a lot of fun and he loved golfing at Innisbrook but he had golfed one or two of our local country clubs (New Jersey and Pennsylvania) where the greens were in better condition. We did get a great package on the golfing which he said was well worth the money and he would go back in a second. He was very impressed with the service he received. I thought the layout of the resort was really nice as I could take walks all through the resort and watch the golfers on each course.
If you go take a trip out to Tarpon Springs for lunch or dinner. It is only a ten minute drive with great authentic Greek cuisine. We ate at Hellas restaurant all three nights- the food was that good!
If you are a nature person like myself there are so many things to do- Big Cat Rescue nearby, Tampa aquarium, and Crystal River which is 1.25 hour drive where you can swim with the manatees! It was awesome! The Osprey building has an area with a ton of brochures with different activities and attractions in area.
We rented a car at Tampa airport- reserve ahead of time- and used Enterprise. Excellent service- highly suggest using them. The resort does have shuttles that will take you all around resort and very convenient. We had a really great weekend!
