From the time we walked into the hotel with our group, the lady behind the desk was rude. We had asked if we could use the kitchen area for our group to unwind after a long drive, we wanted to socialize over a beer, as we do everytime we are traveling. The manager was called to the hotel and came in and said we could not enjoy our beers because he didnt have a liquor license so we'd have to go to our rooms!
First time in all the years of traveling (many in Iowa) that we've ever had a manger of a hotel tell us that! The room was far enough away from the rooms so its not like we'd be bothering anyone- just wanted to unwind after long drive.
We'll take our business elsewhere!

We certainly apologize for any perceived rude behavior. We pride ourselves on a staff which excels in customer service and receive consistently positive comments in this area.

With regard to the consumption of alcoholic beverages in public areas of the hotel, this is against our policy and is considered "drinking in public". Drinking, like smoking, are behaviors for the privacy of one's guestroom. Our "SuperStart" Breakfast Diniing Room is immediately adjacent to the lobby and we have other guests who do not appreciate being, or having their families, exposed to these activities. Our guestrooms are appointed with refrigerators and we welcome all of our guests to relax and unwind, in the fashion that they deem fit, in their guestroom.
