This is truly an historic property filled with antiques and southern hospitality. We selected this location as it was a good mid-point on the Bourbon Trail, for a 4-day stay. We loved it the minute we saw it, but I would not classify it as a B & B. More like an Inn with breakfast included. The owners are on-site and work there daily. In fact, the older generation lives in the bottom level of the Greystone building, securely locked behind their closed doors, with no interaction with guests. At the main Inn, Dixon, who now runs most of the day-to-day operations, is a delight! He is genuine, very knowledgeable about Bourbons, and grew up at the Inn that his parent's ran. Some of the staff has been there 30 years, and make you feel like family. One couple had a stay in the main building for a night and said they had a beautiful room but very small bath, with the shower inside the big tub. They also had no visible outlets for plugging in chargers, etc. All their plugs were behind heavy furniture. The main inn has two gathering rooms. Feel free to play cards, play the piano, or chat in the antique furniture. The grounds are beautiful and the front porch is all you imagined it could be. If you can, stay at the Greystone building. It has HUGE rooms, huge baths, and is like coming home each day. It is true there is no ice machine, but a bellman will bring that to you if you call the front desk. Our bathroom was recently renovated, and we had a GIANT room with a beautiful tub, and a very minimal shower - could barely fit inside, which just seems odd compared to the rest of the room itself. Also, our room had no internet access - it was just too far from the router (we did some research), but our friend's room, in the back with the HUGE patio, had excellent reception. Only because one of us had to do some work, did this make our stay a bit cumbersome. We'd go back in heartbeat! PS - if you can, schedule a tasting with Dixon - spring for the premium bourbon! Dixon knows so many of the distillers, old stories, and bourbon varieties - we didn't want to stop for dinner!

Room tip: If you can't do stairs, you can't stay at Greystone. Ask about a room at the main Inn. Also, for energetic newlyweds or lovers, be advised that the doors in Greystone are thin resulting in sharing your experience with those in the hall :). The prime room appears to have been #6, with the screened, and unscreened balcony patios, good internet reception and a private hall to the room. No smoking at Greystone - even on the patios.

The buildings at the Beaumont are beautiful. The inside is very well decorated. Our room and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and quiet. The beds were really comfy. Upon check in a porter showed us around the house which was a nice touch. Everyone was very friendly. The downside and disappointment was breakfast. Really nothing that special - very plain. The corn cakes were good but not that exceptional. We expected more from an Inn that has been doing this for so long. This was also surprising because we really enjoyed the food at the Owl's Nest restaurant (which is part of the Beaumont). Overall, a beautiful place to stay, just don't expect much from breakfast.

This hotel makes you feel like you're back in time as an elegant lady in her quarters. Even the bathroom had beautiful curtains and I had to really climb into my bed. We were in the main Inn. The weather wasn't good enough to sit on the porch, but that would be something I would do in the summer. The interior decorating looks almost over the top, but that also gives that old feeling. The bar connected to the Inn is also nice. Must say that Harrodsburg itself had not as much to offer as I had hoped for.

My husband and I stayed here in January. It was very cold and the nicest suites are in a different building from the main Inn, so I would suggest visiting in the summer. Not just because of that, but also the property is pretty, and I would have liked to have sat on the porch and drank a cocktail or read a book.
My biggest suggestions: they have their "platinum suites" in the Greystone house - there is no ice maker in that building and no small refrigerator in the rooms. Even though they have many more rooms than a traditional B&B, I think they should provide a small menu of room service food items. I haven't gotten the intimate feeling of being at a B&B, meaning getting the owners story straight from them, meeting the other guests, etc. It would be nice if at 5 or 6 pm, they had a guest only cocktail hour with the owners. Nothing like that was provided.
The room itself was beautiful and the jacuzzi tub was fantastic. All employees were nice, and the decor in the main Inn was very historical and interesting.

Room tip: If visiting bourbon distilleries, stay in Bardstown!!! Not here.

Winter weather was certainly in place over the past weekend which I agree makes any outside activity better suited for those acclimated to the Northern climates. We appreciate your suggestions and all have been duly noted. Please visit us again when the temps return to a more hospitable level for outside activities!

We did a one night stay at the historic Beaumont Inn in October. The Inn is charming in an old time way. We stayed across the street in the newer rooms that had a porch. The rooms were like a room in someone's house. They were very comfortable. Our room faced the street and was across from the bar which ajoins the Inn. It was Saturday night and since the weather was pleasant a crowd seemed to gather outside and kept us awake for an hour or so. The breakfast at the Inn the next morning(included in the cost of the room) was a buffet and quite satisfying. The waitress asked is we would like to try the corn cakes. We each got one steaming hot from the kitchen and they were a treat. Afterwards we browsed around the extensive gift shop. All in All this was a lovely place to stay. However don't get a room directly across from the bar.

Room tip: Choose a room that isn't across from the bar or the parking lot.
