This is truly an historic property filled with antiques and southern hospitality. We selected this location as it was a good mid-point on the Bourbon Trail, for a 4-day stay. We loved it the minute we saw it, but I would not classify it as a B & B. More like an Inn with breakfast included. The owners are on-site and work there daily. In fact, the older generation lives in the bottom level of the Greystone building, securely locked behind their closed doors, with no interaction with guests. At the main Inn, Dixon, who now runs most of the day-to-day operations, is a delight! He is genuine, very knowledgeable about Bourbons, and grew up at the Inn that his parent's ran. Some of the staff has been there 30 years, and make you feel like family. One couple had a stay in the main building for a night and said they had a beautiful room but very small bath, with the shower inside the big tub. They also had no visible outlets for plugging in chargers, etc. All their plugs were behind heavy furniture. The main inn has two gathering rooms. Feel free to play cards, play the piano, or chat in the antique furniture. The grounds are beautiful and the front porch is all you imagined it could be. If you can, stay at the Greystone building. It has HUGE rooms, huge baths, and is like coming home each day. It is true there is no ice machine, but a bellman will bring that to you if you call the front desk. Our bathroom was recently renovated, and we had a GIANT room with a beautiful tub, and a very minimal shower - could barely fit inside, which just seems odd compared to the rest of the room itself. Also, our room had no internet access - it was just too far from the router (we did some research), but our friend's room, in the back with the HUGE patio, had excellent reception. Only because one of us had to do some work, did this make our stay a bit cumbersome. We'd go back in heartbeat! PS - if you can, schedule a tasting with Dixon - spring for the premium bourbon! Dixon knows so many of the distillers, old stories, and bourbon varieties - we didn't want to stop for dinner!
