The rooms are large and nicely done. No central air...not sure if they put in window units in summer. Owners are so friendly! The dining rooms are cozy and the food and price were just right. So close to Bluehill!

I saw the sign and decided to stop. I was glad I did. Rooms are not new but are very clean and quiet. Shower is a little small for a guy 6'6" and 280lbs. The resturant was nice, very pleasant staff, and the food was quite good.
Four of us had dinner there last night and the food was quite good. Pizza is the forte but also the sandwiches and salads everyone liked. Pretty standard bar fare with a good selection of beer both in the bottle and on tap. Wine list was pretty abbreviated but adequate. They were quite busy and the service was on the slow side but all in all a very pleasant and enjoyable meal.
We ate at the restaurant and had pizza takeout another night during our vacation. Not bad for the money. Cozy fire place while you wait. Friendly but hurried staff. A little of the best en path but easy to find.
One rarely encounters accommodations that are both comfortable and unique, the Barncastle offers both.
The lack of formality is refreshing after the forced "hospitality" offered by larger main stream establishments.
The food is both creative and diverse, their wood fired pizza is delicious and the chicken pot pie was divine.
The room amenities are well thought out, beds are comfortable and staff is courteous and friendly.
Definitely returning!
We recently spent three nights in the Barncastle hotel. The hotel houses a bustling restaurant that serves a variety of menu choices from pizza to sliders to fancier entrees. The food is tasty and the portions are ample. A bar is available as well. We stayed in a delightful room that was nicely and comfortably decorated. The bed was firm and king sized. Although the room faced on south street, it was relatively quiet. The hotel serves a complimentary light breakfast usually consisting of cereals, fruit, yogurt and a baked good (fresh banana bread and chocolate muffins). Unfortunately, on our last day, baked goods were not available. It seems quantity is limited by the number of guest. This is a good value for the money and was perfect for our stay.
