This is a B&B located in an older house on the main street into town, about 4 blocks from the city center. The street noise is noticeable and you can hear the neighboring rooms. A white noise generator is in each room, but I found it more annoying than the occasional clunk from the neighboring room.
That's about the only negative I can think to say about the Hob Knob Inn. The rooms have been beautifully redecorated and the bathrooms are new. The king-size bed was comfortable. There was a new flat-screen TV in the room.
The common areas on the ground floor include two sitting rooms, two dining rooms, an outdoor patio, and a porch that wraps around two sides of the main house. The sitting rooms are very attractive and comfortable, and our family spent much time in them.
The breakfast menu is extensive, with a coffee station, a fruit, cereal, and (amazingly good) scone table, and a fully-staffed kitchen with wait staff to take your order.
The service is very efficient and unobtrusive. The manager is new and doing a good job. The desk made several helpful suggestions on places to visit and how to use the public transportation on the island.
The Inn also owns several bicycles that you can rent to tour some of the 60 miles of bike trails on Martha's Vineyard. I understand they are still in the process of installing a business center and conference room in the basement.
Edgartown is a real town (an old whaling community), and the houses are close together. The Hob Knob Inn is in the middle of this, consequently there are not any open views from the Inn. The feel is small town America. We were there on Memorial Day weekend, and neighboring houses were hung in bunting.
Everyone in our group was very impressed with the quality and professionalism at the Hob Knob Inn.
