We purchased an excellently priced package for a one night stay and a couple rounds of golf. The price really couldn't be beat, so it feels somewhat hypocritical to say anything negative. HOWEVER, the Inn at Treetops is absolutely awful. Yes, as many people had mentioned, it's outdated. But much of what's wrong with it could be easily fixed. First, it would be nice if every hotel, Treetops included, that had those horrible patterned satin bedspreads would just throw them away. They are disgusting. Although, the blankets underneath them were not much better. The bed was hard as a rock. We spent a night TRYING to sleep and, in the morning, had aches all over from the mattress. The faucet on the bathroom sink took two hands and some strenuous activity to turn on and off and the faucet for the tub was equally difficult. The room was pretty clean, though, given how old the furnishings are. But those hairs in the tub did not belong to us.
We ordered a cheese plate and some chocolate covered strawberries for the room, as we knew we would want a snack after driving there and golfing 18 holes. The crackers included with the cheese were soggy as could be. The strawberries were VERY good. When we mentioned the crackers to Nikhol upon checkout (she never, by the way, asked how our stay was or wished us well) she said "Yes, I know." When pressed she said she had heard other complaints and thought it was because the kitchen staff put them in the fridge. Here's an idea! DON'T REFRIGERATE THE CRACKERS! Yes, it's a small matter, but indicative, we think, of the greater problem here of just not caring.
The golf courses, on the other hand, are beautifully maintained and the staff we encountered there were friendly and helpful. One might suggest the courses disassociate themselves from the hotel and stop calling it a resort. And, really, when one has to drive five miles from the hotel to the course, is it really a resort or is it just a nearby hotel?
