We booked in for a week in Pinelake Marina in January. It was my first time there as a family and the experience was just awesome. The services was great and the entire set up was very accomodating. My daughter and her husband from overseas was also with and they were quite taken with the scenic drive and views the place and garden route had to offer.

Beautiful setting with lots of fun activities for all ages. The pricing is a bit high per night but the amount of activities and facilities available makes up for the price (in my opinion). Its perfect for family getaways... WE will be returning this year!

Room tip: Garden rooms are lovely but the lagoon facing rooms are the best for great views.

The facilities at the resort are good for families with lots of activities indoor and outdoor. The accommodation however is truly outdated. we got our room and it was really stuffy with a moldy smell. the rooms itself are dusty and not cleaned properly. Place us overpriced and not what we expected.

This accommodation was a total waste of our time and money. For the rate charged, you would expect a 5 star accommodation and service. We have been to far better places where the rates were reasonable, and the service and accommodation were 5-star. The website boasts very deceiving images and statements – don’t be fooled! We booked in on the 30th and 31st of March and it seemed there were only 3 families booked in as well – it is no wonder. The ambiance is extremely dead. The facilities are mostly for small kids – everywhere you look, you see a park/jungle gym. There’s only a pool table and a Jacuzzi for adults. You have to pay for any games you want to play. The water sports are quite boring too – paddle boats and kayaks – the rest you have to pay for. The heated swimming pool has the same temperature as the outdoor pools – so be warned – it is NOT a heated pool. The Jacuzzi is not effective at all – it feels like a warm spa bath. It is also outdoors and has no privacy. Rooms are not serviced – you have to clean up yourself. If you require a cleaning service, you have to pay an additional R100 per day. You are provided with 1 one-ply toilet paper and 1 tiny bar of cheap soap per room. If you require more, you need purchase them yourself. Towels for swimming use must be brought by you. When we arrived, we noticed the towels were very filthy – they had random brown spots on them. Some of the dishes still had fat and oil residues on them, and glass dishes were extremely filthy – as if never washed. We were asked to check the supplies and we found that they did not tally with the count that was done by the stock-taker. Fortunately my husband is a perfectionist and ensured that he tripled checked all the supplies – and he found they were some short. This tells you that they do not conduct a thorough check which means you will be held responsible for the shortages when leaving – so make sure to check thoroughly! Our oven was not working – we reported it and no one came to have a look at it. The shower pressure was not adequate – even a drizzle was more powerful than the shower. We also reported it – and no one came to have a look. Overall, we had a very boring, uninteresting, frustrating time there. I am very dismayed that I wasted R4200 on a place where all we done was slept. We spent the days outside of that place as it was far more interesting. I regret staying there and will never do it again – I have also warned all my acquaintances about this place. I have 2 teenagers and the highlight of their stay was jumping on the trampolines – that should tell you something!

Dear Travel_Ray2112,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your time with us - which is in contrast to the vast majority of our visitors (based on Tripadvisor, Facebook and Booking.com reviews).

Our rates are very competitive for the 3 Star market, please just use an accommodation booking provider (such as booking.com) and compare the rates of 3 star establishments in the Western Cape. You will find that our rates are better than average even though we offer much much more in terms of onsite activities compared to a 3 Star Bed and Breakfast, or a 3 start hotel, for example. We have reviewed our website and have not found any deceiving statements.

The rest of your review is hyperbolised to such an extent that to comment on every one of your complaints would serve no purpose. All we can say is there are plenty of activities on offer, tennis (3courts), squash, pool, table-tennis, foozball, swimming pools (one is indeed heated, but not at bath temperature), (the infamous) trampolines, jacuzzis next to the pool, bicycles rentals, mini-golf, pedalos, kayaks, small motorised boat (rentals), water-skiing (extra charge), tubing (extra charge), SUB boards, etc, etc. how you got bored only you will know...we even have a giant chess board for those not interested in fast paced sports...

It is true that the Garden Route also offers an abundance of activities - Bungee Jumping in Plettenberg Bay, Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn, Bordelierskop Nature Reserve near Mossel Bay, plenty of golf courses, etc. Pine Lake Marina is situated in the heart of the Garden Route and as such therefore is an ideal base to explore this beautiful are from.

We strive to continually improve and provide our customers with the best holidaying experience, we will provide feedback to the various departments mentioned and ensure that they take your feedback into consideration.

All the best.
Team Pine Lake Marina

We chose this venue for a family reunion and could not have chosen better. It offers very good self-service accommodation and excellent facilities. From squash courts, tennis courts, to a number of water sports. The atmosphere is very relaxed. It is also ideally located, close to a number of popular tourist attractions including Knysna, Wilderness and George. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. But for the fact that the units are not serviced during one's stay, I would have rated this a 4 (no towel changes or cleaning in a 3 day stay).

Room tip: Choose the Lakeview units.
