Having started our journey in Cape town and travelled through the garden route we finished our holiday with a Safari and a 3 night stay at Rippons Safari Lodge. We stayed in the long barn with well appointed rooms that look out onto the swimming pool and the valley, but one warning to be aware that the bath has sharp corners at knee height and both my wife and myself found out the hard way. The dimmer on the light switch is a great idea especially for those bleary eyed early mornings. The day starts with a cup of tea/coffee and a bickie and then its of on the trek, we did have some rain while we were there but the jeep had wet weather capes and blankets on board, although its worth dressing in layers so as the temperature changes you can either dress or remove layers as required. Beakfast was a good meal to come back to and the chef made a great effort to accommodate our group of 6 people with a whole host of dietary requirements. The day is spent relaxing and on our return from the afternoon journey we were greeted with a nice warming hot chocolate. The bar is reasonably priced but you do have to purchase your drinks for the afternoon drive tea break. The evening meal would be something to look forward to and the evenings were generally not to late due to the early starts. The staff were very helpful and willing to please and the trackers were very knowledgable and it was interesting to be shown some of the tricks of the trade. The seating in the jeeps tends to rotate but be aware that if your in the back its makes for a good helter skelter ride. All in all it was very enjoyable and of course we got to see the animals.
