We own several of the Moosewood cookbooks, so we were familiar with the restaurant. When we planned a trip to the Ithaca area, the Moosewood was definitely on the list of places we wanted to eat. It didn't disappoint.
The place is pretty casual inside. No fancy tablecloths, candles or low lighting. Its a bright, homey place with lots of light wood decor that is fine for diners of all ages. We went with our three small kids. The restaurant is very accomodating for children and has reasonable kids meal options.
While we aren't vegetarian, we don't feel the need to eat meat at every meal. So the menu of vegetarian and fish-based dishes was great. The menu changes everyday and pulls heavily from their many cookbooks ... or maybe its the other way around!
It fills up fast so I'd suggest checking their hours and getting there soon after they open so you can avoid a wait.
Since the menu changes everyday, there isn't much point in describing the specific meals we ordered. But they were all very tasty and the portions were adequate, especially if you ordered an appetizer as well.
The food was so good, that we decided to go again the next day! If we're ever back in Ithaca again, we will definitely make time for a meal at the Moosewood.
