I cannot comment on the facilities as I did not get as far as staying here. I somehow made a mistake and booked for the date (originally website said the correct date and this obviously refreshed to 'today's date' at some point) Anyway, I hold my hands up, I made an error. I sent them a message at 2pm yesterday when I booked, asking if I could collect the key at 11am. I’m guessing this would suggest that I wasn’t planning to stay that night, as 11am was 3 hours before I had booked! Anyway, the first I knew of it was when I checked my emails this morning when I was told I had not shown up and they have deducted the full charge from my account. I had intended to book for a date in June so was very confused. I emailed back apologising for the inconvenience, explaining that I had no idea that I had booked for last night. I asked them to be compassionate and give me a refund as I cannot afford to lose that money at this point, I was intending to pay in June, this has left me with no money for my partner’s birthday present. I asked if it was possible to stay for the date in June instead and have a refund but Julie the owner (I assume) replied twice being very rude and blunt, informing me that they could not afford to refund me and maybe I should check the dates before I book in future as travel agents don’t refund. I regularly make bookings online and this was a one off mistake. Even if they couldn’t give me a full refund, a part refund would’ve been appreciated or at least an understanding and apologetic reply. Instead I was made to feel guilty and as if they were angry with me. This is not customer service. I used to work in a bed and breakfast and we understood that sometimes making a small loss was worth it as word of mouth gets around and customers return when they receive good service. I am relieved that although I made a huge loss today, at least I can now book with an alternative hotel and receive better service. If she can be this rude by email, god knows what she is like in person over the breakfast table!
