I have been in Toledo on business since mid-January and have spent the last 6 weeks at the Grand Plaza.
There have been one or two extremely minor inconveniences but, overall I've had an excellent stay.
It does cost $16 per night to park. The breakfast buffet is a little expensive. It can take the water several minutes to get hot some mornings. It will get hot eventually. You just need a little patience.
The staff has been great. Patrick M. & AJ are extremely courteous and proficient valets. Jerri, Sarah, Patty, Mike, Cecilia, & Felicia have taken exceptional care of me in the bar & restaurant.
The food is a little expensive but the entire menu is excellent. My favorites are the Kobe Beef Meatloaf & the Trifle. The Happy Hour Menu is the best deal on town. The $2.00 Queso would be a bargain at $5.00
The drinks in the bar are super expensive. Shots & mixed drinks can easily cost $10.00 or more. Beer prices are a little better.
The bathroom lights are a little dim, I'm not a fan of Lodgenet Television, and the wi-fi is spotty. The front desk & building engineers will do all they can to resolve any issue, when informed. I ended up using a LAN cable I was given by a staff member.
Beyond that my room is great. I have a really nice view of the Maumee River and the Housekeeping Staff keeps my room clean and well supplied.
I can't say much about the Fitness Center, as I have never used it. The Indoor Pool is a little small but, nice. My granddaughter loved it when she was here.
The hotel is located in downtown Toledo. There are lots of things to see and do near by. The original Tony Packo's is a short shuttle ride away. The Imagination Station is connected to the hotel on the south side of the lobby. The SeaGate Center is a short walk down the street.
Overall, I am very happy I was able to stay here. I would happily stay here again.
