I was a waitress as a teenager, so I am usually a very good tipper, just ask my husband. We had a large group and were there a while before we were waited on. We did recieve our drinks in a fairly timely manner. However, my kids finished their milkshakes completely before the food arrived. Only some of us recieved our soup prior to the meal, but we couldn't find the waitress to ask. When the food finally arrived my husband and I got our clam chowder, but not our burger. We waited while eating our soup, then I went up to the counter to ask about it, and the waitress produced the ticket- the burger was missing from the ticket, even though everyone at the table heard us order it. She didn't apologize or offer a fix. The manager was there and said he would order it for us, but since everyone at the table was nearly finished with their meals, my hubby really didn't want to pay for it anymore. I said as much, nicely, and that if they wanted to make it for us we weren't really willing to pay for it at this point. The manager stated "everyone at your table just got their food so you have to pay for it"(even though everyone at our table was halfway done eating and would be all the way finished before they made the burger). We declined, and recieved no apology for the messed up order or any consideration regarding our bill. The teens behind the counter just stared at us, lounging against the counters. We, too, saw the waitress exactly three times. Couldn't flag her down for missing silverware or to get water refilled. Terrible service. As a teen I would have felt awful getting someone's order wrong, and offered to pay for it myself. Shame on the manager. The only reason this place is in business is that it's near the Newport Aquarium and no repeat visitors. .
