My husband & I were very disappointed with our stay at Wedgewood Inn for many reasons. First, I had sent an email regarding breakfast and their response and it was not even close to what was mentioned (see below)... "Would you mind letting me know what kind of breakfast is offered while we stay at your Inn? Will it be breads & muffins or will it be hot meals such as eggs & pancakes etc"? Their response was, "We serve you a made-from-scratch, multi-course breakfast, daily, from 8:30- 10 am. Fresh Coffee goes on at 7 am! Breakfast our 1st morning was a very tiny plate of mixed fruit, maybe 1/2 cup, eqq & pepper quiche which we had 1/10 of a piece & a hot croissant, jar of granola on table, 1/4 cup of yogurt to share...the only homemade item from them was the egg quiche and it was disgusting, overcooked...2nd morning...another tiny plate of fruit, a bagel each, 2 scones which were horrible, no taste, very bland, oatmeal in a crockpot with sides brown sugar, raisins...hard boiled eggs, 1/4 cup yogurt again, apricot jelly, cream cheese and jar of granola again. Again, the only homemade item were the scones which were blah, everything again was ordered outside the Inn. They had said we were going to have MADE FROM SCRATCH...uh if you order out its not made from scratch.
Also, refreshments throughout the day...there were 5 small chocolate chip cookies on a plate when we arrived and they looked disgusting! They must have made them some time ago and froze them because they looked like they were thawing out on the table right in front of us. I never saw them out out anymore the entire time we were there.
What really ticked us off was that the weather was rain, snow & hail which turned into sleet & slush. It was very slippery to walk on the streets and drive. We were going out for dinner and decided to walk because parking was terrible near the shops. When we left our room there was a chair in front of the front doors with a note telling us to use the side door which leads to the parking lot. This is fine but now we had to walk from the lot to the front of the house to get out because the driveway was very icy and it was on a slope so we didn't dare attempt it because who knows if a car was driving in as we were leaving...the entire sidewalk was icy and I had slipped. They had not salted the grounds at all. How do you allow guests to walk in dangerous conditions without taking care of your property? There was no one in the Inn to even talk to if we had a problem...
One last thing about our room, The Canopy room...for what they were charging us, they could update the canopy by making sure it is stable. The right side of the bed, the canopy attaches to the frame of the bed but the frame was broken and the canopy looked like it was going to come right off and crush us...in all honesty my husband couldn't stop laughing about it. It was amusing! Oh, one more thing...the bed was extremely firm! Hard as a rock. If you like soft beds, do not choose this room. Hopefully the other rooms have much softer beds. Something you should ask before booking!
The only nice thing I will say about this place was that it was close to all the shops and restaurants. It was not worth the money we paid so save your money, stay home and make a day trip out of visiting New Hope if you can!
