Four Seasons Galveston: It's Okay, but not the Greatest
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 17, 2013
Four Seasons is a simple resort in a great location. It is right next to the Galveston seawall, across the street from the Gulf of Mexico, within walking distance of a few good restaurants and various entertainment.

This resort doesn’t have many units- I counted only 20 when I visited- but they are all 2- bedroom with living rooms, kitchens, dining areas, and both an upstairs and downstairs balcony. The setup is a little different from other condo resorts in that the units are set apart from each other, like townhouses, each with its own exclusive parking space that backs right up to your own, private entrance.

As I said, the best feature of this resort is its location and it makes the perfect choice if you love sitting on your balcony and gazing at the open sea. But this resort is not without its shortfalls and at the top of the list is the limited amenities and activities. There is a pool, hot tub, small kids play area, etc., but there isn’t much else. This makes it a good choice when you want a seaside resort but have your own plans in mind for fun and entertainment.

This resort is quiet, as far as the neighboring guests are concerned, because each unit is set apart and there is no one above or below you. But there is a fair amount of noise from motorists and pedestrians as they drive/walk past the front, on Seawall Blvd. The kitchens and a few other things could use some additional updates or features and it would be nice if the bedrooms had their own televisions. Add it all up and you have an okay place to stay that will be acceptable to some, but a little too basic for others.

We were booked in here for a week starting on the 9th of March 2013, through the timeshare company RCI. It was so bad we found somewhere else to stay...The mattress on the sofa bed was stained on both sides, one with blood and the other with rust from the bed frame. the apartment hadn't been vacuumed properly and the bathrooms were dirty too, hairs in the sinks and grubby toilets.
The reception was full with four parties arriving and the accommodation wasn't ready. We were asked for a $200 deposit even before we were allowed to look at the room, which we refused to pay! after inspecting we said it wasn't acceptable but they offered no alternative nor was there any offer to clean the rooms properly. It's a very run down and dirty place and nowhere near the high standards that RCI usually provide. We had to find other accommodation for our stay which wasn't easy but was worth the struggle.

Room tip: Anywhere but the Four Seasons.

We just got back from a get away weekend to Galveston - loved the place!!- You can tell they have put some money into the place---Very spacious unit; well equipped ; clean and very quiet! Went ahead and booked it for a summer trip! You can't beat the location-- right on the sea wall-- close to Pleasure Pier and walkable to fishing pier at 61st street.

Almost a month after checking out, they notified me that my deposit was being denied refunding to me, even after all the problems with the unit I stayed in. RCI had already contacted me requesting a review of the exchange unit.. I wish to rescind that review now.

The AC unit was flooding the unit, bathroom an kitchen, with water, from a AC unit that was installed improperly, according to the repair man who made three trips, three days to repair it, the drain was flooding down the wall into the bath an kitchen areas.
NO AC operating for more than 2 days in hot, humid Galveston, I had to vacate the unit during the day, an spend the days in the local library to stay cool, this was after repeated calls too the office.

The dishwasher failed to operate, thus I was charged for the dirty dishes, a painting was hanging crooked on the wall above the couch, I called the office an reported that, two men came an took it down from the wall, put it behind the couch, an now the manager wants me to pay for the painting.

I am extremely disappointed that RCI would permit such a ragged, un organized, dirty, junky place to call itself a RCI condo,, I fail to understand how such a below standard "resort" can meet the standards of RCI membership for exchange.

As a handicapped senior citizen, I am appalled at the condition of the unit, an the treatment by the management of Four Seasons. The unit had multi problems that would cause problems for younger RCI members, must less Seniors with limited mobility medical issues.

I have called the management several times, was put on hold, asked too call back, then when we talked, she was negative about my complaints, an has failed too return my call promptly.

RCI needs to help your members with such problems, do you even inspect the resorts at all. Doug Traylor cell 713 502 7706
