I have stayed at the Hyatt Regency more than once while doing business in Houston. It is the perfect place to go home to at the end of a long day. The service is excellent, they care about the customers. The rooms are very nice and newly updated...the beds are comfy as can be..it is a great hotel and I will definitely go back!

Rooms were nicely sized, and hotel is near to the George Brown Convention Center. The restaurant (Shula's steakhouse) was sensational. I ate dinner with several steak loving colleagues ( I am not one), and they all said it was the best steak they have ever eaten...these are people who have eaten at Delmonico's in NYC so I take their word for it! I am not a meat eater, and found a number a wonderful vegetable choices.

The young gentleman, Alvin, who checked us in (late at night) was pleasant and FAST, much appreciated after a long trip.

My only gripe is that they charge for wifi...I don;t get why the lower end hotels can provide that for free and the more expensive ones don't. It is annoying.

Only other suggestion I would make to the hotel and the traveler...make sure you take the bath mat out from under the sink when you go to take a shower, because when you go to step out of the shower, you can't reach it (5 feet away to the sink), and the floor is slippery black granite! They would do well to instruct their maids to place the bath mat on the tub when preparing the rooms.

The hotel is centrally located. The rooms are comfortable and spotless. After my initial check in, every staff member called me by name. The service was impeccable. I got a terrific deal on a room bidding on Priceline, but was so impressed I would almost pay full price to stay there. I was given 2 free passes to the breakfast brunch which was fabulous.

On a side note, you are in walking distance to the Houston City Library, which has lots of computers and free internet access. Also walking distance to the Co Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. We took a trolley to the Museum District, and hotel staff picked us up where the trolley ended. The fitness center was free, clean, and well equipped.

I loved the Hyatt, and highly recommend it.

First I want to say that the staff here is super accommodating and friendly--at least the ones that the public sees. The hotel lobby is nice, with a convenient if pricey bar area, and the rooms have been recently renovated/updated to include a nicer work desk. HOWEVER there are a lot of minor annoyances that seriously detract from the stay. The carpet in the room was filthy. The fluorescent lighting in the bedroom and especially the bathroom was horrendous. Instead of a nice cover on the box springs, there was something that looked like a dirty Hefty bag. There was a large blood stain on the extra blanket in the closet--yuck!! Both the ice machine and soda machine on my floor were "out of order" for my entire stay. There were only 6 hangers provided--not enough for a 4-day business stay. The only place to buy snacks after 6 pm for blocks around--the small store in the lobby--was incredibly overpriced ($2.25 for a 20-oz. soda that was barely below room temp) and the food was horrible. Hyatt aspires to be a top business hotel, but it has a long way to go. I'm glad this stay wasn't on my dime.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency for 4 nights, upon arrival i asked for a low ground room and was given a room on the 9th floor. The room was small and stuffy and the view out of the window, was part brick wall and a view of a multi story car park but had a seating area just outside i think it was some sort of walkway/sitting area outside, but if people had walked to the end, up to where the wall started they could have easily seen straight in to the room. When i asked about changing the room i was told there was no other rooms available and the only advice they could offer was to keep the curtain closed.... Thank you very much.....

The room keys continuously stopped working - my husbands key stopped working at one point and i was asleep and didnt hear him knocking the door, he went to reception and was escorted back to the room, the man from reception walked in the room, woke me asked me if i was staying alone or if this man was my husband!!!!! They could have checked my reservation to see there was 2 people booked in the room.

There was also a buffet breakfast on, runny scrambled eggs, dry sausages and all the fruit was dry and bruised....

There was also renovation work being done - which was extremely noisy! and we were not made aware of upon booking.

You are welcome to check my other reviews, im not a complainer but I wouldn't stay here again - ever!
