stayed for one night on business. Located to major highways ; its is easy to get around. the rooms are big but should be updated (esp. the tv). I got this room on priceline for $75. Great pool and lake front jogging trail.

The Mandalay Hotel has just replaced the TV's in the guest rooms to the flat panel TV and are in the process of adding new cable to increase picture quality, which will be done by mid-September. Come back and enjoy the upgrades!

My dad and I drove up to Dallas for a quick trip to see the implosion of Texas Stadium. We could not have chosen a better hotel. The pictures do not do this place justice. It is very nice. I have been to Omni Parker House, Omni Houston Westside, Omni Bayfront, Omni La Mansion, The Watermark, and Omni Austin Downtown and this was the nicest (besides the Watermark, but thats Omni's best property and doesn't much count.) The doors were always opened for us with a smile - that says a lot for Omni, they usually have trouble with this simply task. You walk into the beautiful lobby and are greeted by a table of about 20 vases with exotic orchids. There is a large sitting area with a pianoist and oriental foutain - very classy. The lobby features their M Bar, and downstairs a restaurant, or two. Meeting space is just off the lobby to the right. Out back is the pool, surrounded by lush grass and great landscaping. The pool is right along the man-made lake of Las Colinas. Very nice!

The tower of rooms is 28 stories. We had a room on level 20, facing Dallas. Was great! We had wanted to get a suite to have more space (1700 square feet) but ended up just getting a double bedded room. It was huge anyway! The bed were tucked into one part, and what was left was still bigger than an average room. Bathroom was nice, marble everything - you could tell it was a little dated, but still very classy. We were a little surprised by the old tv, probably like 20in. But who cares when one entire was is a window looking out to Las Colinas with the Dallas skyline just behind that? Was a great view! We wanted to see the demo of Texas Stadium, and we were able to sit back in the room and watch it fall. Not a better view in the city! (especially since we were warm and didn't pay Irving $25 to park in a traffic jam!)

Overall, this hotel is great. Don't be fooled by the low rates they offer - hotel is very big for the area, so you can probably nab a room for less than $130, and a very nice one at that. We requested a nice view / high floor when booking and got it, so you should try that to get the Dallas view. Suites are located on the four corners of the tower, so basically they have a ton of suites. Wouldn't hurt to ask for an upgrade at checkin.

Front desk was nice, but we confused them a bit with the way we wanted to pay for the room. Cash and credit was involved, so its understandable there was some confusion. When we asked for our deposit back in cash, we were directed to the ATM in the lobby - but no, we wanted our deposit back not new cash. Anyway it was quickly resolved and we were on our way. Everyone was very friendly, though the concierge did seem to book it to the back when we were looking for a map of DFW. Topher was going to print us one, when a very nice guest suggested the magazine the hotel provides. It had a great map, FYI.

The hotel is close to DFW, and offers shuttle service for free to DFW, or anywhere within 5 miles. The hotel also offers a pretty extensive mini bar in the room featuring items designed to stimulate each of the 5 senses. However, they do not have white noise machines - though the alarm clock does some bird noises or something. Who can sleep to bird noise? Anywho...

I was impressed with the free parking at an Omni. I guess thats just because I was not downtown. Watermark, La Mansion, Boston, Austin Downtown all charge for parking so that was a nice perk.

The pool is a bit odd to get to if you take the elevator from the tower to the pool level - takes you through a maze, past account, and down another elevator. Weird - Austin Downtown and Houston at Westside also had weird room-to-pool routes, must be an Omni thing.

I hope I have given you enough information, and hope you enjoy your visit to beautiful Las Colinas. The Omni is an excellent choice!

Forgot to mention Mokara, the full service salon and spa on property. We didn't use it, but its there for the taking.

It is always great to see someone who is a loyal Omni guest enjoying a new Omni hotel. We are glad that the Mandalay lived up to the standards that being part of the Omni brand creates. We hope that you are able to stay whenever you are in Las Colinas.

We held a conference here and the meeting space and staff were outstanding. The hotel is a former Four Seasons, so very plush on the inside. The only drawback is that there is literally nothing within walking distance - OK, maybe one place. Plus being located in Irving, they have some ordinance against major signage, so its slightly difficult to find your way around, even with GPS!

While I enjoyed our stay, this place doesn't really offer much besides a room to sleep in.

I travelled here for business. Since the meetings were at the hotel, I'm really glad I chose to stay here. After walking around the hotel and grounds, I decided I didn't see any reason to go anywhere else while I was here. I grew up in the Dallas area and don't feel compelled to see the area.
I highly recommend signing up as a Select Guest before your visit. As a Select Guest you get complimentary wireless internet (otherwise it's $10 day), a choice of local papers and complimentary beverage service in the morning (One guest can make 2 choices, so I always got a pot of coffee and a bottle of water... they also had juices, tea, etc). I also got a complimentary bottle of water on my first night.
THe rooms were quite large. As previous reviewers noted, the bathrooms could be improved, but it was clean. The tub area was spacious, although the lighting was just ok. They do have the magnified, lighted make-up mirrors and robes. My only other complaint about the room would be the "work chair" -- it was a basic hard-backed chair. So many hotels now have the ergonomic, adjustable chairs --- this one was a disappointment.
The fitness area was very nice, but it's kind of convoluted to get to it. The elevator does not go directly from the rooms to the Lake Level where the fitness room is. The signs have you get off on the Mezzanie Level (3), walk down a few long hallways (passed the business offices) then take an elevator down to the Lake Level. The fitness room was one of the best equiped ones I've seen in a long time. There were 4 eliptical trainers, 5 or 6 treadmills and a couple of bikes. There were also weight machines, freeweights, a balance ball and a few yoga-type mats. Each of the cardio machines had a built-in TV screen. If you don't have your own headphones they have them available for use. The changing rooms include saunas and were nice.
We only went to Trevi, the main restaurant for one breakfast and for lunch everyday. Although it's not on the menu, you can select the continental breakfast buffet for $11 (the full hot buffet is $17, plus you can order off the menu). The continental had a nice selection of cereals, bread products, yogurt and fruit.
They had the same set-up for lunch, a soup & salad bar for $11 and a full hot buffet for $17. I had the salad bar every day we were there. The soup on the first day was an excellent cream of mushroom, later in the week there was a chicken/artichoke? (I can't remember) and a lentil w/Italian sausage. The salad bar was pretty basic, but there was cubed chicken and diced eggs to give you some protein. They also had a selection of flatbreads (pizza) every day and a couple of other prepared salads which were quite good.
We actually ate in the M Bar every evening for dinner. They have 1/2 price appetizers for happy hour. During the week we enjoyed a very good cheese plate (we got it 3 nights), a chicken and brie quesadilla, some chicken skewers, a flat bread and buffalo lamb chops. The also have some excellent wasabi peanuts to snack on. I also ordered a couple very good $10 salads off the regular (non-appetizer) menu. The wedge was especially good. The only problem with the cheese plate was the cheese to bread/cracker ration was off and we had to ask for additional bread every time we got it. The bartender also makes a very good chocolate martini ($5 if you get it during happy hour).
Turn down service was nice, and they would switch the TV to a soothing music/nature show and refill my ice bucket (ice machines are not on every floor). The rooms had both refrigerated and non-refrigerated minibar items... which really just took up space.
All in all, I really enjoyed my stay and would stay here again if I had business in the area.

Travelled here for a company conference, so can't comment on prices, but what I found was a stylish hotel with impeccable service, huge rooms, great facilities and good food. A good ambience was enhanced by the fabulous interior plant displays and plenty of different places to relax in comfort.

The staff were very good indeed - they were good at anticipating your needs and very quick to respond to specific requests.
