This is the most beautiful hotel in Laredo.
Take the time to learn some of it's history like the fact that it used to be the High School!
My husband took me to this hotel many years ago and it has always been a special
memory for us. You are close to Mexico and enjoy the culture. The beautiful surroundings
and pool are so relaxing

Coming to Laredo to attend a wedding, I chose to return to La Posada, the charming, historic hotel where I brought my husband and children about 10 years ago. This is in the San Augustin historic district, right on the Rio Grande river, across the street from a small park, and next to Laredo's small history museum. For those who want to stay in a graceful building with two swimming pools, lovely Spanish (patio) layout, and location in the heart of historic Laredo, this is it. I also enjoyed my 10 minute walk to the St. Peter's historic district of Laredo, seeing graceful old homes of varying architectural styles.
For better or worse, the hotel is near a major border crossing and the formerly bustling historic downtown shopping area, which now does a lot of wholesale business from lovely old buildings that have not been maintained as well as La Posada, but have some style. As a woman travelling alone, I did not walk alone at night, but other than that, I felt completely comfortable walking in the area of the hotel, eating in its restaurant, and enjoying the feeling of being in Mexico without crossing the border.

My husband and I stayed four days in September. This time we stay in a concierge level room, room 472. The room was great. Unlike our last visit, this room was not damp or musty smelling. Capi in the concierge lounge is AMAZING! After one visit to the lounge he not only remembered our name but he also remembered our drink of choice as well as the conversation from earlier.

This hotel is in a great location if you need to cross over into Mexico. The restaurants on site are wonderful. The staff is very attentive and courteous. We will be going back to Laredo and when we do, we will be staying here. I hope we will see Capi!

The place is beautiful. I love historic buildings. The room was very nicely decorated. The spacious bathroom is very elegant. BUT THE MUSTY SMELL WAS ANNOYING. It was a moldy smell, like wet rugs that survived a flood. We stayed one night and then on to another hotel. At the new hotel I noticed my clothes, that i hung in the closet at la posada smelled musty. So sad that such a beautiful place was a dissappointment.

From the minute I walked in the door, the charm of this hotel won me over. It is situated around 4 historic buildings in the downtown area of Laredo right at the edge of the Rio Grande river. The hotel is is well-appointed and recently underwent a stunning 17 million dollar renovation that painstakingly preserved the heritage of the area and the beautiful hacienda style of the hotel. The staff were warm and attentive and appeared to take great pride in their work. I felt welcome and at home throughout my stay and will definitely return if I am ever in Laredo again.

Room tip: The manager let me tour the Presidential Suite because I was curious and it was stunning. If you have that kind of cash to spare, by all means DO IT!
