I spent six nights in the Hotel Cisneros when attending a conference at the University in Alcala de Hanares, just outside of Madrid. The room was small and clean, perfect for one person. The separate bathroom has a good shower. The ac in the room is on a thermostat and can be easily adjusted. They have black out curtains for afternoon siestas if that's your thing.

The hotel is in a good location, about 15 minutes walk from the University and from the lively Calle Mayor, where there are lots of restaurants. There isn't a whole lot right around the hotel but it's a nice place to walk around anyway. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. It's an easy 40 minute train from Alcala to the centre of Madrid. I was pleasantly surprised because for 41 euros a night (long stay discount) I was not expecting much.

The room includes breakfast but it's basic: toast, cereal, some processed and prepackaged cakes, fruit salad, tea, coffee, juice. I'm vegan and found it not quite the best start, so I ended up buying a bag of muesli and a carton of soy milk, which the front desk kindly stored in one of their refrigerators for me when I asked. That worked. I just took it to the breakfast with me and used their bowl, added some fruit, and had a cup of tea.

Another tip: if you're flying back and want to take a cab to the hotel, have them call ahead to pre-book it. It will be about 20 euros cheaper (31 euros to the airport).

Room tip: I think they're all about the same. But the staff are very willing to offer you a different room if you like.

This is a value hotel where all the essentials are present but not enough interest being taken to meet basic requirements. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The hotel was clean and but for the issues (see below) which could be addressed with ease would have been adequate for our needs.

Room tip: Beds were very hard and uncomfortable - take a topper Gents loo had not paper or soap - take some loo roll and soap to the gents loo. Breakfast: buffet butter had obviously melted reformed and bread stale. This was obvious to anyone but still being served up - there are good churros in the bar down the road but their loo was filthy and no soap. Staff were very pleasant and obliging; seems management controls could be better. I have brought these issues to the hotel's attention who have suggested that when I visit another day I will be able to check that they have dealt with these issues. Don't be put off, give it a go!

The hotel was just ok. The staff was very nice and friendly. The rooms were small but exactly what I expected for Spain. We stayed in this hotel 2 nights and I got about 3 hours sleep total. The beds are so hard that my boyfriend and I both had back aches when we got up, I thought maybe it is my age but both my sons in their 20's also had the same comments about the beds.
The hotel is in a good location and you are able to walk to local restaurants etc. Parking is underground and there is an additional charge.

Room tip: If you like hard beds then this place is for you.

Stayed in this hotel for a week, did not expect much, but because of the late travel reservation did not have any other choice. The hotel turned out to be really pleasant surprise. The reservation process was smooth and quick.Hotel is relatively well positioned near the centre of a beautiful town of Alcala and I didn't have any problem finding the place.Personnel at the reservation were very helpful and we're always smiled and friendly .The room was small but had everything you need and most important it was very clean.WiFi was free and connection speed was great. Breakfast at hotel is nothing special and is probably the worst thing about the hotel, only cold stuff(except coffee).I don't regret one peny I spend for this hotel, although the hotel maybe is not worth a star more, the friendly personnel of the hotel definitely are.

Firstly, the Hotel is 30 minutes in a cab from the airport and a 40 minute train ride to the center of Madrid itself. The reason I make that point is we booked a Madrid city break through ASDA travel and ended up here, so, beware, some travel sites give this as a Madrid hotel.
As for our stay,on the good side , the staff, simply fantastic in all respects and could not be more attentive and helpful with one in particular speaking excellent English. It's a 20 minute walk into Alcala de Henares which is very pleasant in the sunshine but not so much fun if it rains! I understand that it has recently had a revamp and basically its very clean and new but at it's heart it's a travel lodge looky likey.!! So, bad side,we booked a standard double and got a twin with the beds pushed together but decided to live with it,however, the beds were so hard we may as well have slept on the floor,I have spent the night on more comfortable park benches. On to breakfast, well, if you like tomato's on toast or cake for breakfast your laughing, tomato's on toast is a nice novelty on day one but by day 3 its just dull. There is cereal, orange juice, coffee etc but even some cold meat or cheese would have broken the monotony, and, I just cant do doughnuts at breakfast.!
Overall I appreciate it's a budget hotel and it does provide value for money, but,it just needs a little bit more. And those beds...have got to go!
