We checked into this motel on Thursday, Aug. 29, about 4:30 PM. We'd made a reservation for a king bed, non-smoking room. We were told upon check-in that renovations were going on in the front portion and our room was in one of the back wings (which was already renovated).
Also, no breakfast was included. We didn't see it listed in the hotel description, but a photo on their website showed a breakfast area. The desk clerk said the lack of breakfast was because of renovations.
After getting to our room and starting to unpack, we discovered that the bathroom light didn't work (not sure how house-keeping would not have noticed). I called the front desk and the clerk came to check it out. The bulb was burned out and since the clerk was the only person working the desk, my husband had to follow him back to the front office to get a bulb.
The bath vanity had a coffee maker, but the only coffee packets provided were decaf (also, wondered how house-keeping overlooked that). So I made a walk to the front office to get regular coffee packets.
And lastly, after being in the room for approximately 30 minutes, we noticed it wasn't getting cool. The air-conditioner (that we turned on upon arrival) was just blowing air - not cold air. Once again, we called the front desk and the clerk came to check the air temp. Sure enough it wasn't working. He opened the door to the room beside ours (which had two double beds instead of a king-size) and asked if we'd move to it. We told him that we would as long as the air-conditioner was cold. He turned on the switch to check it and the unit didn't work at all, no running motor/no air, whatsoever. So the clerk found another room down the hall which was smoking-designated and had two double beds. We checked it out and the smoke odor was very faint; so we agreed to take it. We started moving our things when the clerk returned to tell us that the room he'd moved us to was reserved (in the computer). However, when he found out we'd already moved most of our things, he said he'd move the other reservation to a different.room. So we finally had a room, albeit, far from what we reserved. And the air-conditioner was not in the best working condition and took forever to cool the room.
I give accolades to the desk clerk for going above and beyond to find a suitable room for us. He did the best he could (considering the circumstances) in accommodating us. However, I think the owner/manager seemed to have overlooked very important improvements in the renovations: new air-conditioners!
