We stayed at Serafina in Levanto in July 2010 and this wasn't our first visit as we've been coming here since 2002 either together or with other friends and family. We fell in love with everything about Serafina, the town and the people on our first stay. The host Anna has always been so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Serafina is Anna's family home so she is a fountain of knowledge on the local area, knows all the best spots to try whether you are looking for a lovely restaurant or walk - the whole of the Cinque Terra is on your doorstop and the trains are fantastic and cheap for visiting places such as Montoresso and Vernazza (Via dell'amore the walk of love!).
Serafina is easy to reach by train once you've arrived in Pisa or Genoa airport. It is very close to the local station and a short walk to the centre of the town and the beach which is clean, has safe swimming but also occasional great surf and has everything you need for a day out. Breakfast, which is delicious, can be provided too. There is a small local deli which sells bread, cheese, meat etc but the town also has bigger supermarkets and a wonderful market.
If you visit Levanto at festival time the sights and sounds are amazing with all the locals coming together to celebrate with dancing, food, processions and ends with fireworks on the beach!
The setting of Serafina is the cherry on top of the cake. Anna takes wonderful care and pride in her beautiful gardens which all the rooms are set in. We loved to have a glass of wine sat amongst the lemon, cherry, kumquat, kiwi trees and at the bottom of the garden a fig tree.
We can't rate Serafina highly enough - book a holiday here, you will not be disappointed.
