We took a trip to Green Bay for the weekend, and my mother chose this hotel for our stay. We expected it to be dead, as it was the weekend after the Packers lost in the playoffs. Our party had three rooms with king size beds. I got to the rooms first, and picked my room based on the smell. My room had the lesser stench of the three, and the best view. The rooms smelled very old and musty. They were clean, but the stains in the bathtub turned me off. The heaters are old and badly need updating. The heater in my mom's room was barely able to be adjusted, as the knob/handle that adjusts the temperature was broken off. You had a choice of really hot, really cold, or off.
The pull out couch in my sister's room was broken. My brother and sister stayed in that room, and my sister barely slept, because she let my brother have the bed. The first night in our room, my son woke up screaming from his spot on our pull out couch. He calmed down once in our bed. My husband went to go sleep on the pull out couch, but only lasted 5 minutes. He said the sheets were causing his entire body to itch. The next morning we requested all new sheets, and didn't have the same problem the following night. The king size bed was EXTREMELY comfortable, and the pillow selection was lovely.
Our party went swimming in the pool a few times. I only went the first time. The musty smell in the pool area was overwhelming for me. It triggered my allergies and even now, a week later, I am still struggling to get them back under control. The pool hours were good, open 24/7 and the pool itself seemed clean. They tell you there are towels in the pool area, but I would suggest bringing some from your room. The ones by the pool are more like hand towels, and as stated before the elevators are slow and not heated. If you don't want to freeze on your way back to your room, you should bring the larger towels provided to you in your room. The hotel staff is very quick to respond to room requests for more towels or blankets, so if you run out, don't be afraid to ask for more.
The restaurant is VERY spendy, and not worth the money. We had looked at the room service menu before we went down to the hotel. There were several items on the room service menu that were appealing, and well priced, so we headed down to the restaurant to eat. We waited a long time to be seated, over 15 minutes, even though there were empty tables already set and available when our party of 8 showed up. When we were given our menus, nothing that we had anticipated was on it. It was all only fine dining, steak, pasta, no burgers or sandwiches like they showed on the room service menu. There wasn't even cheese curds on the menu! This is GREEN BAY, home of the cheeseheads, and no cheese curds?! They did offer a "string cheese wrapped in egg roll" or something to that effect. But no real Wisconsin cheese curds, very disappointing. When we weren't finding any of the food we wanted on the menu, we asked the waitress why. She brought over, I believe, a manager, who offered us a "pub menu", which had burgers on it, but no sandwiches. We were informed the sandwiches on the room service menu are only for hotel guests in their hotel room wishing to dine lighter. We were taken aback, and ready to head back to our rooms and order room service. We didn't want to cause a scene, however, and made do with the pub menu. The restaurant is dated, like something from the 70's. There were a lot of elderly people, and the lighting was very dim. The candles on the table set off my husband's allergies. The food was very under-seasoned and not very good. They do offer a "kids eat free" deal, I believe it's if you are staying with the hotel. You do have to present a room key to get that deal.
Overall, the experience at this hotel was very disappointing. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, however the outdated, musty decor and the restaurant didn't make it something I would want to experience again. I would pay more to stay in an updated hotel if we ever return.
The fourth floor reeks, try to get on the 6th.
